Water leak 2013 IPL

I recently went to go cancel my automatic car wash membership as I was going to detail by hand or take it to professionals to protect the paints and since it is malbec black. Halfway through the car wash I noticed leaking coming from the door jam next to the passenger / drivers side foot right where your left leg would be. I'm aware of the sunroof leaking problems but I want to know if there's another issue. below is a link to the video that I took while in the car wash.
the carpet was barely wet. I removed the trim and lifted the carpet but it was practically bone dry minus a slight dampness to the edge of the white fluffy stuff under the carpet.

Based on your video, that is not the infamous sunroof drain failure. If it were the sunroof drains, the water would be seeping from up under the carpets. Not to say they are not suspect in/of themselves but your video shows otherwise.

It is likely 1 of 3 things:

1) door seals going bad;
2) window seals going bad; or
3) clogged drip channels under A-pillar.

If I were to guess, #3 above might be your culprit. You may want to check this thread for more info and how to check.

Of course, it could be as simple as the car wash using excessively high water pressure and volume that sprayed perpendicular to the doors/windows and overpowered the seals... for it to leak on both sides... just saying...

Either way, I would check your floorboards (pull up the carpet) and see how much, if any, standing water has accumulated.

i think youre correct on the car wash using the high powered jets. I took apart all the trim on both sides minus the a pillar stuff, and no water was found anywhere. No deposits or signs of anything. The passenger side under the carpet on top of the frame was a little dirty so that may be a problem. This weekend when i have more time im going to pop off the A pillar covers and check / clean them if needed. I spent about an hour pouring water through all the crevices and wherever theres a weather seal and nothing came through on either side so im hoping that the jets did me dirty lmao. Thank you for the help dawg

Best advice: leave the exterior A-pillar trim pieces alone! Unless you can confirm there is a leak those pillar trim pieces and clips are very brittle plastic and will break easily if you are not extremely careful (cost me $400 to replace!). I would wait until the next few rain events and check for leaks then.

As a alternative, you could try pouring a bottle of water slowly near the front of the roof drain rail (that black strip that runs front to back) and if there is no water dripping from the door jamb or leaking into the car... I would leave it be.

yeah i probably poured a gallon on each side over the course of an hour and no weird leaking occured. I had maybe 2 or 3 drops come in on the drivers side tweeter, and i noticed the weather seal was a little loose on the frame where the door tweeter meets the frame. I felt around inside and saw the rectangle clip that holds it in had torn away from the gasket so that may be the culprit for the few drops. I put some duct tape around it for now.

Also thanks for the warning, i was eager to get into disassembly but now im not 😅

I would start there...Should be simple fix as I do not think this is a sunroof drain issue.

This link saved me. Particularly the gent who tied his roof drain into the condensation hose which ran through the floor. I did the same thing. I used 1/2" pex fittings which ID was bigger than the OEM hose and bough 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD hose for the extension. From the sound of it you may not need this but being that it's so common a leak you may need this.
