Found water under carpet / mold odor (HELP)

I’m a newbie,
I found water under my carpet on drivers side. We had a huge surge or rainfall in Houston on Monday night. Can anyone help on what I should do next or recommend someone in Houston that knows about G37? It’s starting to get a foul odor.

Being driver side it is either the door/window weather stripping failing or the sunroof drain has failed. When you opened the door, was there any water on the door sill (kickplate) and/or any evidence of water dripping on your door speakers? Also, with a flashlight, look around your fuse box area and check for water dripping there.

I'm in the process of replacing the weather stripping as that was the cause of my leak (passenger side). When it rained water was just trickling in above the little tweeter/mirror joint. This is becoming a common problem as these Coupe's age. The joys of frameless windows... and the new seals are not cheap.

Best advice, if you are not able or willing to do the work, would be to take it to a trusted mechanic and have them D/R either the weather stripping or the sunroof drain.

I had to replace the stripping on the my driver’s side, after replacing the sunroof drain grommet and then realizing that that wasn’t the problem.

I believe the part you’re looking for (passenger side) is
76860-JL00A

i found it for cheaper from a japanese based company:
https://www.blackhawkjapan.com/produ...ccb08667&_ss=r

it took a while to ship bc they didnt have it in stock at the time. Hit them up on whatsapp before you order to check stock.

I replaced both of them today:
76860-JL00A (RIGHT/PASS) UPPER WEATHERSTRIP- $177.20
76861-JL00A (LEFT/DRIVER) UPPER WEATHERSTRIP- $177.20

For anyone ordering these you do NOT need to order the separate body clips. The new seals come complete.

I ordered mine from discountinfinitiparts.com. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives but when you have water pouring into your car you can't wait weeks for overseas shipping. Hell, the USPS is slow enough as it is...

Plus, with shipping costs going through the stratosphere- thanks to this virus crap- you're not saving as much as you think. Also, most shipments from Japan are via JapanPost/EMS- which is not accepting any packages bound for the USA. Only alternative is FedEx or DHL- and that adds up (ask me how I know)...

Just my 10¢.

Hello again, I need your advice sir. I am wondering if I should buy this part from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Inf....m46890.l49292

It's the one mentioned above, reason why is because I'm seeing water dripping from around bottom of my right door, it's close to ecm but coming from door area, twitter seems to be dry. I can kind of see water running down to the passenger side floor where the styrofoam piece is. I'm hesitant about this ebay part because you mentioned it comes complete with body clips, but I don't see anything else on this part besides weatherstripping. I checked site you mentioned and prices went up so I found this one. What do you think?

When you open the door, is any of the area circled in yellow, wet?

If so, then the door seals are suspect. Keep in mind that there are three (3) seals for the door: upper (that you linked above), lower, and mirror/tweeter "triangle" (see this thread). In your case, water is likely coming in at the joint where the three seals overlap the body welt seal as shown in this pic:

Above photos taken from this thread .

As long as you match the OEM part number(s) you should be fine. OEM seals come with push clips. The upper seal only has two (2) push clips- one at each end as the whole seal is pressed into the body frame.

Sunroof drain(s) are always suspect as are the windshield cowl seals. But as Aurieg stated his leak was coming in "from door area," the sunroof drains have zero impact on that symptom.

Yes I did see some water coming from the area circled in yellow. It was raining rather hard yesterday and I was parked facing downhill, I am not sure whether it was because I was opening and closing doors but I am going to keep checking. This morning I went to check and the car seems dry under carpet and carpet as well. I will be driving without some trim for some time since I just modified sunroof drains, I don't want to put everything together and not know whether it's leaking again. Do you by chance have part numbers for other seals that might be in question? (I got the upper weatherstripping ones).

Thank you

For ALL G37 Coupe's (2008-2015):

UPPER DOOR WEATHERSTRIPPING (SEAL):

76860-JL00A (passenger)
76861-JL00A (driver)

LOWER DOOR WEATHERSTRIPPING (SEAL):

80830-JL00A (passenger)
80831-JL00A (driver)

CORNER SUPPORT SEAL (MIRROR/TWEETER "TRIANGLE"):

80832-JL00A (passenger)
80833-JL00A (driver)

ALL new, OEM weatherstripping will come with new push clips and adhesive. For the LOWER seals AND the MIRROR SUPPORT "triangle" seals, the interior door panel MUST BE REMOVED (and the mirror removed from the door).

Thank you so much, you're a wealth of knowledge! I've noticed this seal is a bit flimsy particularly at the joint, I can press it down with my finger but it springs back up, and looks like there was water there too. Is this an area of concern or I should focus on the door seals?

The piece you are referring to is called a "Opening Trim Body Welt" and is very hard to find (depending on color). Water is likely leaking past the upper door seal and runs down this welt where it leaks to the floor. I did NOT replace this piece. As you found out, these pieces are not cheap. By the time I replaced all three (3) seals for both doors I was already just under $800+/-. The door seals solved that leak, for me at least. However, your car, your call.

Part Numbers (2008-2010 Coupe):
76921-JL00A (passenger side, black color)
76921-JL02A (passenger side, gray color)
76922-JL00A (driver side, black color)
76922-JL02A (pass/gray/discontinued)

Got it! Thank you so much for these part numbers. I know this is unrelated to this thread but you are like an infiniti wizard to me now, what oil brand do you use? I know I need 5w-30, also an oil filter, do you prefer OEM?

I use whatever the Nissan service department uses- Mobil 5W30 if I recall- and Nissan OEM filter. Car has only been serviced at Infiniti or Nissan since day one (2008 w/112K miles). No issues.

Are there any differences between 2008 coupe and 2012 coupe? For some reason discountinfiniti says Body Welt is not compatible with 2012, all other parts it approves. Instead it recommends some door trim for 2012 sedan, it's a one piece you can see on the right bottom there. Also, I am ordering all other parts from blackhawk japan site somebody mentioned above. It is way more economical and they even offer 2 day fed ex. Of course I am not counting on that, I just dont want to spend $822.

Apparently after 2010'ish Nissan changed the interior trim color codes/names on top of changing the damn name of the car in 2014. I found:

76921-JU50A (passenger, Black/"Special Red"(?))
76922-JU50A (driver, Black/"Special Red(?))
76921-JU53A (passenger, Beige (Wheat)
76922-JU53A (driver, Beige (Wheat)
76921-JU54A (passenger, Gray (Stone)
76922-JU54A (driver, Gray (Stone)

As always, verify before you buy!
