I had to replace one of my Depot tail lights with the clear plastic panels. I was driving on the highway at speed and i felt something hit the car (or similar feeling/sound) but I hadn't run over anything. I looked in my side mirror and saw a clear plastic panel fly off the rear end. I had no idea what it was until we reached our destination and I could look at the rear of the car. The whole clear panel had come off! Luckily, I was able to find a set of replacement tail lights at a reasonable price so I purchased a new set and installed them.

The only thing I can think of is the Florida sun baked the butyl seal enough that it failed.

Anyway, all better now!

I'm watching it get buried today. About 8 or 9 inches so far, and still coming down!

That's what I'm hoping it WON'T be like early next week when I plan to cross the Siskiyou pass.

Did NOT do any relearning after cleaning my TBs. And then my sketchy battery started sending under voltage to the MAF, which caused lean conditions and misfires. Oof.

Did all the relearn steps, but still replaced my battery. Annoying to reset all the clocks, but the car is running better now with no codes.

I haven't actually done it yet, and unless there is a climatic miracle between now and April, it will have to sit in the shed for a while. Picked up this rear swaybar from a G37S Coupe off ebay. Delivered to my porch this morning. I'll also be getting a strut tower brace after the holidays.

I managed to get the OEM shift **** off without damaging it. I won’t say it was easy but using a couple of rubber strap wrenches and a bit of elbow grease it took maybe 20 minutes.

I installed a weighted Morimoto shifter **** thinking it’d be an upgrade but I ended up not liking it at all, so I returned it and reinstalled the original. I have a short shifter coming on Tuesday though so I would have had to remove the shift **** anyway.

I also changed the oil, oil filter, and air filters.

Installed a short shifter. The job wasn’t too bad although I didn’t remove the center console so getting the four bolts out for the dust cover retaining bracket was a bit time consuming.

The STS is a fantastic mod for the G/Z. Which one did you get, and what do you think of it now?

I purchased this one: https://www.nonstoptuning.co/store/p...NSTSSK030.html

I can attest to the quality, the shifter itself is one single piece except for the large hex nut that adds more weight. I don’t remember how I found it but I’m glad to have saved the coin over the other established offerings.

It has improved the driving experience pretty substantially and I feel I’m able to drive the car more smoothly now.

Installed my new solid diff bushing and subframe bushing collars, as well as fluid service for the front and rear diff. Ran into an interesting problem, though. After installing the new GKTech diff bushing, my GKTech diff brace doesn't fit because of how the diff now sits. I didn't get the "raised" bushing option, either. I suppose now that the bushing is a solid piece of metal, I won't be needing the diff brace.

The car feels much more planted, and the rear end stiffer. I think I had gotten a little too used to driving on a blown OEM bush, heh.

Coupe or Sedan, upgraded diff bushings are a noticeable improvement.

I never liked the idea of mounting one side of the differential to the subframe as bushings serve a purpose on the car (google "g37 370z differential brace pinion seal"). Fluid filled OEM bushings were most likely selected for lower NVH, but they are not the greatest fit for the FM platform as they allow too much movement and fail at 5-7 years. Polyurethane makes the rear feel far more planted. I'm not familiar with solid bushings. I know track cars use these.

Wild mod of the day, I put a new authentic HKS license plate frame on with some Happy Endings titanium bolts to hold it on. Titanium bolts are 17mm long so a little short for our application but they work just fine with a thinner frame without any spacers behind the frame.
