Not yet, but I am planning to remove it when I can manage to get my hands on an Autopower roll bar. Just waiting for that, and I’ll probably remove the spare also along with the emergency jack since it’s useless at my height. I have 2 new rear wheels, same spec and size, just in a higher offset coming in and will use my current rears as a spares/have a track set if I don’t sell one or both of them.
I’ve honestly just never been a fan of the design of the Z personally (the rear and quarter panel/hatch design bothers me the most) so I was never into them, despite the weight difference and parts availability (for track-related items). I also used to own an 07 6MT G35 sport coupe and ever since I sold that car I had wanted to upgrade to the G37 and go all out building it over time. The VQ platform has some of the best bones to modify the car however you want for a really engaging driving experience, and Infiniti one-upped Nissan in the design department for both generations of the VQ IMO.
Im with you on that lol. I track my G and i love this car. I do like 370z too but i also like proving that the G can perform beautifully when setup right. Personally, its the interior of the 370z that turns me off. But hey a little extra weight doesn't discourage me either, drive cleaner and pick better lines and ill make up that second i lose on the straight away i figure

This, exactly this. Too well said haha. Agreed the interior of the Z was a breaking point for me also. The G is essentially the underdog and a car most people probably wouldn’t consider turning into a track car since it’s a little more expensive, luxurious, and heavier than other options. But that’s all part of the allure for me...making it all work and doing something different. It’s an amazing platform for builds- want to go FI or drop a 2jz or LS in there? Go for it. If you have the money and knowledge it can be done with this car, which is also the reason I’ll probably end up buying another G37s coupe in the next few years to turn into a track-only drift or TA car.
There are much heavier cars out there getting thrown around the track with no problem so I never worried ab the weight of the G. I’ll have cut around 250 lbs total off my curb weight when I remove my spare and back seat also, which definitely helps. If it’s setup and tuned properly it all comes down to skill
To answer questions (as I had forgotten to update)...
As some may recall, I swapped to a 2018 Q60 steering wheel in June 2019. At the time, I was unable to hookup the heated part nor the built-in paddle shifters.
Fast forward to this past summer, I was finally able to remove the column paddles (which I never used/liked), wire up the steering heater circuits and the built-in paddles. The result is a fully functional Q60 steering wheel.
For the record, the wheel and steering switches are 99% plug and play. The rest of the install is NOT. I needed a different clock spring (spiral cable), had to extend 3 wires at the clockspring (for the paddles), and run a full, switched, relay circuit for the heater.

I like it, especially the heated steering wheel part. I drive my AWD coupe in freezing weather all the time, heated steering wheel is very compelling.
Can the Q60 shift paddles be removed from the wheel? I have the column mounted paddles and much prefer them. My GTI had steering wheel paddles and I found them toobuku when trying to shift gears on windy roads. I'd like to keep my column paddles.
Did the Q60 clock spring fit perfectly? Would I need to get the harness leading into the clock spring from a donor Q60? Did the heated steering wheel switch from a Q60 fit perfectly in your dash? I'll have to go check, but I think I don't have any dash blanks, I think where you put your steering wheel heater switch I have park sensor switch...I think
Most of the newer Q50/Q60 steering wheels do not come with paddles. It was a route I wanted to take because, why not? Keep in mind that it is not just the steering wheel. You would need the airbag as well, and finding them reasonably priced, used, is rare right now.
I could not use the Q60 clock spring because the donor car had the tech package and the wiring connectors/pinouts were entirely different. I ended up using a M37 clockspring as the pinouts were identical to the G37 and also had the heated steering circuits built-in (plus the extra 3-pin circuits I needed for the paddles).
There are a lot of little bits and pieces to this swap that I had to work out on order to get it to work fully. Too many to go into here in this thread. It is a bit of a Frankenstein mod, but it works damn well.

Yeah I don't wanna derail the purpose of this thread. Have you made a thread specifically for this mod?
@jrocka312 the split duckbill nascar-esqe wing looks nice! Where'd you find that at?
They are available throgh a few vendors right now... Jalisco's Carbon Fiber, Aerobon, and Amazon believe it or not! The roof wing is H.I.C. and is really nice!
