I think the paint has a lot to do with why it looks "ok". If it was a different color without that matte paint it would look a lot nicer.

For me it's just the lines and overall look of the car. It has a Mazda feel to me. Just my opinion but I would probably not buy it.

Haha, of course they do.

We one upped them with the G37, now we are about to get one upped with the Q60.

Not for another year though.

The G35 does look better from the rear and side. The G37 looks better from the front.

I concur with these statements, fully. And I have a G37. But I have to add to that.

The G37 looks and feels 3x better from the inside. And it makes a nice amount more top end power

Only thing I miss is the RAS and the pop up Navi. That was pimp.

Looks like the new C-class in a way, but the front is super aggressive and I love it

Looks like the Q30 will be shipping with a 6-speed manual, as well as a 7-speed dual clutch automatic.

I was not expecting to see a 6 speed manual offered in this car but that's obviously great news. I'm also pretty excited to see a dual-clutch automatic making it's way into the Infiniti lineup.

I can't imagine that the dual-clutch automatic would not make it's way into the rest of the lineup. Mazel, mazel, good things.

From Infiniti's press release:

Automatic gear shifts are smooth and seamless thanks to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The dual clutch intelligently pre-selects gears so the next shift is always ready to go, while manual mode with paddle shifters lets the driver control gear changes when desired. Well-spaced ratios promise comfortable acceleration thanks to an even distribution of power, whether at a steady or fast pace, while quick and supple changes are ensured using either the fully automatic mode or the paddle gear selectors. Torque is almost uninterrupted between changes, reducing lurching while in motion and between shifts.

A six-speed manual transmission and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will also be made available.

I dont think the Dual clutch in the Q30 will be used in anything outside the Q30/QX30 because if its FWD application but I due expect a Dual Clutch to make it into the line up.

How do you guys feel about a regular 7 speed but one as strong as the ones going in the new hellcats/corvettes/camaros or the ones used in the old Benzs. Does it have to be Dual Clutch? Just a question.

^Good catch. I've gotten so used to FR engine, RWD. But yes, that specific transmission won't make it into the rest of the RWD lineup.

My main issue with the current 7AT is the slow shifting. I don't have a tune but in manual mode, the very best gear shift is the 3 to 4 shift under half to 3/4 throttle. It shifts very crisply and fast. Every other gear shift feels lazy by comparison. If they would all shift like my 3-4, I'd be happy. Also would like a taller 7th gear.

I have high hopes for the dual clutch because, IMHO and I'm sure I speak for many, the 7AT shifting is a mess. At least as it is currently in my 2010 and by the anecdotes I've read in the extensive threads here on the topic. The problem still seems to persist through subsequent software revisions, etc so I think the shift issues are just inherent to the current 7AT design.

I'm not very familiar with the high power ones but for me, since they don't seem to be able to resolve the issues on the current design, I'm hoping the dual-clutch will cover the sins of the 7AT.

I'm fairly new to this forum so forgive my ignorance in asking this questions but you mentioned this " I don't have a tune but in manual mode". What do you mean by "tune"? And I seen this term tossed around a few times in the forum. Do you mean like a program upgrade for the transmission? Again forgive my ignorance.

Im in the market for a used G37 coupe. Any reason to wait it out on this? I'm guessing a price of $50K for a base model.

You can't go wrong with used G37 coupe, just get one with sports package, you won't regret it. We really don't know exactly when new Q60 will come out and what it will be equipped with, everything we know is just speculation and\or rare statement from an executive which sometimes contradict earlier statement from a different executive. You can always sell your coupe if and when you want to upgrade to Q60 when it finally comes out.

Yea that price, the possible mark up price, the depreciation, and the whole thing about buying the 1st generation.

I was thinking about waiting for new NEW Q60 but I found a nice '11 G37s w/ only 31K miles and paid $22K for it.
