Gas fill-up usually clicks off before full
Gas fill-up usually clicks off before full
When I am putting gas in the tank from any gas station, it usually clicks off a lot until I finally get it to work. Sometimes, I cannot get it to work on full flow and have to use a lower setting.
Any ideas why?

Its vapor blow back. Basically the air left in the tank is getting pushed out when the fuel is being put in which turns the pump off. Its a safety mechanism, once it clicks I find there is still about 1-2 dollars left that will fit. You just have to be careful not to overflow though
I have had this issue several times. Here in NJ you are not allowed to pump your own gas. One attendant showed me if you put the handle in the tank upside down (looks weird) it does not kick off. Sure enough every time I have this issue this seems to work.
Interesting. I have had the same problem with mine as well. Next time it acts up I'll give the upside down trick a try

This is a new station that opened a couple of years ago near my house and I've never experienced the problem as I usually purchase all my gas here.

I too have had this issue. I used my garage air compressor and a blower tip to blow compressed air into the little vent hole below the filler port WITH THE GAS CAP REMOVED! I usually just put the trigger on the fuel dispencer on the second fastest filling selector and it doesn't cause the gun to shut off prematuraly. I quit having this issue after the compressor trick.
I've experienced the problem a few times at stations out of state on my way to Florida along I95. I usually make a note of the stations and never go back.
