Hello , i have been hearing some kind of rattle from engine bay when i lightly push the gas and let it go. I attached a youtube link. It is much more louder when i go under the car. Let me know what you think. You will hear it around 15th second.

Short on time so didn't check video, but a common rattle are the catalytic converter heat shields.

Did anyone get their timing chain tensioner, guides replaced?? İ wonder how much it would cost if its that...

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. Gaskets at the cats maybe...hole in 1 of the pipes? Have you hit anything?

 

Nothing yet. İ have an appointment on tuesday. İ am scared its something to do with the engine..

I have similar noise coming from my 08 Coupe... I agree with blnewt, I think it's the cat...Any results from your appt?

 

Actually, i went to Nissan dealer today. They said it is the Cat , and it is under warranty 8 yr/130kms. So i have to go to Infiniti tomorrow. they have to check it too apparently and hopefully i will get a new cat under warranty. the cat it self was $1200 Canadian. so i am glad it is covered under warranty.

I hope it did not do any damage to the engine.

 

You didn't. A bad rattling cat would not harm the engine...doesn't work like that.

 

Oh good. Thats what the service rep told me lol he said i should address this asap cus briken cats may damage the engine may result in to oul consumption problems. He also said that the oil consumption problms on g35s were because of the catolic converters.. I am at infiniti now, they are also checking to see of the sound was from the cats.
