New G37S Owner.... Advice!

Hey guys,

New to the forum (1st post) and new owner of a '09 G37s 6MT. I bought the car yesterday from a third party (46,000) miles and I will be the third owner of the vehicle. The car still has 6 months of manufacturer's warranty left so I want to make sure everything is set on the car before this expires. So far I don't detect any problems but Ive only driven it for a day (from Dallas to Austin ~ 200 miles and around town some in Austin). Went from a '98 3.28i to a 2002 Ford Focus to this G37 so this car drives like a DREAM!

Should I take it in to a mechanic a month or two before the warranty expires to do a full review of the car so I can then take any diagnosed problems to Infiniti to claim warranty work?

Also, given my model: 2009 G37 Sport Coupe 6MT + Tech, Prem, NAV... are there any problems or issues I should look for right away that are common to this spec?

Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.

Should have had a mechanic look at the car BEFORE you purchased it. Biggest problem I've seen the 6mt have is the slave cylinder.

I would definitely change all the fluids in the car..oil, diff, trans, brake, power steering...etc. might save some trouble down the road. I'd also look at the serpentine belt and brake pads to see how they're doing.

Thanks for the response Rad.

Yes I should have had a mechanic look over the car but I trusted the dealership. By third-party, I mean (non-Infiniti) dealership. I purchased the car from a Lexus dealership so you would think they would at least replace all the fluids, but that is good advice and definitely what I was looking for. High risk problem areas to check on before the warranty expires.

The guy made we feel like a piece of **** for not buying the $2500 MPP plan for 8yr/125K miles.... but my thought is one of the big reasons why I am buying a G37 and not a 3.35 is so I DON"T have to buy extended warranties...

Look through the TSB forum. I would look at getting the tranny update, brakes, my rotors were warped, and anything else on the TSB forum that you feel may be an issue. I am in a simular boat. I have an 09 with >57k miles, I am about to go with my list this week, but I have stay on top of any TSB and maintenance so I need to think of something before the next 2K miles. Again, start o the TSB thred and drive the car to ge to know her and her personality. Its hard to say what you need if you dont know her yet. Get in tune with your car and the conversation you have with her one on one will tell you just about anything you may need to be concerned with.

I bought an 08 G37S. So far I have changed the air cleaners (2), the cabin air filter, the engine oil and filter. I called Infiniti and had the service department add my name to their database in case there are any recalls or the corporation needs to contact me. I found out my car had had a couple of reflashes done to it. The nearest dealer is 75 miles away from me. I polished my interior door pull aluminum covers, replaced the grille for peeling chrome, and replaced the black frame on the steering wheel where the switches fit. I think I am good till it is time for tires.
