New owner, seeking advice g37x sedan.

Hey guys, I'm new to the world of nice cars. I talked to a few friends and everyone says for performance modifications I "need need need" cold air intakes and a new exhaust system. Any advice on this or other modifications to look into?

New owner here too. Welcome!

CAI and new Exhaust (and a dyno tune) seem to be the primaries in terms of adding power. A long-tube cold air intake (LTCAI) along with new high-flow resonated cats/full cat-back seem to add a considerable amount of HP to the wheels.

Aside from that pretty much everyone recommends getting new swaybars. It's pretty unanimous that they're the biggest benefit to driveability.

Welcome to the site, and drewfiniti gives a good reply. For whatever reason the G37X has a very small rear swaybar, good results from adding a RWD swaybar and even better going aftermarket.
Might check these threads too, pretty good roundup

I will never understand how 328 hp is not enough for the everyday driver.

For the performance oriented individual there is never enough HP. Most members of this former are performance oriented, while some are about aesthetics or keeping their G in prime operating condition I'd bet they are in the minority.

To the OP's questions. Best mods for this car are breather mods for the intake and exhaust.

Intake:
Long Tube CAI (Stillen Gen 3 or Takeda are the most popular)
Motordyne M370 Plenum or Z1 Plenum are the most popular
PNP Lower Plenum if you really want to. Helped me shave .1-.15 seconds on my 1/4 mile.

Exhaust:
Resonated Hi Flow Cats are a must. Fast Intentions, Z1, Berk and MXP are all popular
Catback exhaust. Fast Intentions, ARK, Motordyne, Invidia, Stillen are all popular among others (plenty of options here)
Headers (while still under debate regarding their cost benefit. Fast Intentions and PPE make long tune headers so no cats needed. For shorties, Z1 makes them but you have to pair them with their test pipes or hi flow cats.

Sways: Hotchkiss sways are a must, they are awesome, you should just buy those first.
Coilovers: Fortune Auto 500's with swift springs, same as above
Camber Kits: SPC, SPL
EndLinks: Whiteline for rears, OEM fronts
Strut tower bars: Cusco are by far the most popular and pretty inexpensive too at around $175.

Tunes: Important to not skip this once your breather mods are done.
EcuTek- confrimed to be the best tune out now for our cars.
UpRev- solid tune too. Check out the UpRev vs. EcuTek thread.

I've missed a bunch, Wheels/tires, bushing kits (Whiteline diff bushings!!), of course aesthetic mods. This site is awesome and there are some really good people here that will help you if you are serious.
