Front License Plate?

Hey guys, this is my first post. I got my new G37 S coupe over the weekend (love this thing! )

In Ohio, we are required to have front plates (lame I know). I cant figure out where to mount it on the body though. It doesn't look like there are any screw holes anywhere on the front for it.

Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

Dont those rub on the paint when you are driving or are they stout enough to stay away from the bumper? I am having issues with NV's front plate crap as well.

Yeah, I had to do the same thing to my coupe. I bought it in North Carolina (no front plate required) and then moved to New York (front plate required).

It's actually fairly easy if you want to DIY. The instructions are in the owner's manual. Do you still have the front plate mount?

Or, just go to your local dealer and ask them to install it. They may do it for free (especially if you are there for service).

Uh Tazi, if you don't have front plate holes, you are under no obligation to run a front plate.

Take a look at NRS 282.275 which states:

2. If the motor vehicle was not manufactured to include a bracket, device or other contrivance to display and secure a front license plate, and if the manufacturer of the motor vehicle provided no other means or method by which a front license plate may be displayed upon and secured to the motor vehicle:
(a) One license plate must be attached to the motor vehicle in the rear; and
(b) The other license plate may, at the option of the owner of the vehicle, be attached to the motor vehicle in the front.

I love my state.

You can get a motorcycle license plate for around $10 and it require no drilling. Or you can try ziptie and put some felt behind the plate to prevent scratches

Sorry, but the lack of holes does not supersede that the car was designed for and does include a bracket for a front license plate. If you were pulled over by an officer you would lose that argument.

you might get a ticket, but it wouldn't hold (in that state)

I'd calmly take it from the cop, and then contact the solicitor and have it thrown out.

Word of warning, if you go to LAX jury rig a plate mount. TSA scans incomming vehicle plates and you stand a good chance of being ticketed.

^ even if you "park" at LAX with no front plate chances are you'll come home from your trip with a ticket waiting for you.

drive around without one. if you get a fix it ticket, use a factory front plate mount with double sided 3m foam tape and get it inspected. then just take off the plate until the next time you need it.

Actually it does, according to the NV DMV and NHP, who I asked about it about four years ago.

Not all G37s come with a front plate bracket, and some have no holes drilled for such. Mine did, but when I had the bumper replaced I asked them specifically not to drill it just so in the event I do get stopped for front plates, there is no question.
