I installed my splitter without the turn buckles and used heavy duty 3M tape and about 15 bolts, nuts w/ washers from the underside of the bumper. Let just say I've taken it in excess of 100+mph many times and no issue with downforce ripping off my splitter.

To show how strong my set up was without the turnbuckles, here's a picture when some crap that hit me on the freeway. Splitter still in tact... Well most of it. Lol. It even net the **** out of my Stillen plate mount.

The directions are grey, and should be re-worded, I'm obviously not the only one who has interpreted it that way, and the tech I talked to backed up that theory. Of course, nobody can find record of that call at this point....
I wish I knew who you talked to, or if we had a record of that, but the last picture in the instructions is the turnbuckle installed. Orientation of the turnbuckle can be altered. In regards to the screws/hardware, they are designed to work in conjunction with each other, which is why we supply everything in the kit.

I know there is a discounted amount presented to you for a replacement, hopefully that works for you. Please feel free to PM me with any direct concerns.

Josh I would also like to know if this is presented for me as well as my splitter is no more. I have photographs if needed. Also, can replacement parts be purchased for my license plate bracket, it is bent now.

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to jump in here as I have quite a bit of experience with these parts.

There is a tremendous amount of aerodynamic force at work when you add a splitter to a vehicle. This particular piece has been adopted in the aftermarket car culture as an aesthetic enhancement but its roots lie directly in the racing world. By adding that thin piece of material to the front of the car it dramatically increases your frontal downforce and in turn aids in high speed handling. While its function becomes much more noticable at higher speeds, the aerodynamic forces are at work as soon as the car starts rolling. Obviously the aerodynamic benefits increase exponentially in relation the the vehicle's speed.

When we designed the splitter, we incorporated the turnbuckles into the design. If they were not intended to be installed, they would be sold as an optional piece. We do know that they aren't the best looking, however they are necessary. We also know that many G37 owners have chosen to install the splitter with no turnbuckles and some customer's have actually purchased 4 or 5 replacements because they love the way it looks on the car, just don't want to use the turnbuckles. And they have accepted the consequences.

A warranty replacement part is issued when the part is found to be defective. in this case, it is a clear case of the installer not using the supplied hardware. That would be like me going back to Infiniti if my wheels fell off...nevermind the fact I took off the lug nuts.

Discount or not, I spoke with Stillen support and they told me the turnbuckles were not necessary, I didn't take note of the guys name because I did not expect to have this problem, The directions do not say anything close to what you are saying, which they should. They say word for word, install any way you would like. They should state it more in the lines of what you said "Turnbuckle orientation can be altered, but must be installed for use" or something along those lines. They clearly do not say, if you don't install these, splitter will fly off. Common sense or not, This is why I called before I put it on. Sure I could take the discount, and move along, but when tech support tells me one thing, and it is incorrect, then I do not feel I am to blame.

Also the screws are still firm in the bumper, the splitter itself pulled through the screw heads. They should have washers attached, or better yet be through bolted. The turnbuckles pivot as well so I don't see how much more support they could provide.

This clear case still points back to your customer support. I see you two like to dance around that aspect of the issue, as well as not addressing that the instructions are lacking, and should probably be revised at the least, to keep this from being a round about discussion.

You are correct. The instructions say "Install any way you would like." They don't however say, "Installation of the turnbuckles is optional."

They also show being installed in the center when mine left from the passenger corner.

Nobody wants to be accountable for their own actions these days. It's the new American way. Sad.

All I did was ask if anyone had the problem before. The only reason they would not warranty it was because of the turnbuckles, which is why i'm a little upset because their own customer service told me that they were optional, and just cosmetic. so, it's not necessarily just me installing it how i wanted, that not working, and pointing fingers.

I'm just waiting on an answer from Josh if I could be given a discounted price on ordering a second splitter being that mine was subjected to road harzard from another automobile. I had no issue with down force messing with my splitter, although I used my own mounting equipment.

When I put mine on with the provided parts, I could easily tell I needed more screws and 3m tape, about 16 to be exact. I never used turnbuckles, and I didnt have any probs. Best idea for the OP is take the discount reinstall splitter using more hardware and if you want use the trunbuckles, take pic of it with turnbuckles installed. Then if it breaks again you shall get a new juan under warranty. Also the wording in the instructions might want to be a little more clear about the installation process to avoid further problems.

Wow that sucks! Sorry to see your misfortune man. I have my stillen splitter since 08, I scrape the thing like crazy every now/then, also been to speeds over 100 mph still intact. Mines still rock solid, althought I need a new one due to the cold/heat we have here it's not as flush anymore. Will def buy again Bc I have zero issues with mines, for the record I never use the turnbuckles so it's not required.

Without proof, how does anyone know you aren't making up the conversation between you and the Stillen CS?

Sorry about your part man, i also bought one and completely bypassed the turnbuckles, 3 days later flew off on the highway.. Nothing you can do.
