G37S Extreme Diet

G37S Extreme Diet
So, many of you might disagree with some of my decisions and just recommend that I purchase a new 370z. For the record, I don't want a 370z, I want a G37 without back seats haha. I just recently pulled my back seats out and bought material to make a spec V ish style rear seat, just with leather instead of whatever they use. I also purchased new Corbeau CR1 seats with the black/grey microsuede seats. It looks like it will match perfectly with my platinum graphite g. I just ordered everything, and my seat brackets don't even ship until May 11th so It will be a little while until I can get pictures of everything up. I will post pics of the back seat as I will be finishing that before my seats get in. I will be in South Africa for a little so gimme some time!
Total Saved weight so far:
Braille 21 lb Battery: 17 lbs? i didnt weigh the stock, i figure around 40 lbs
Spare Tire/tools: 37 lbs
Rear trunk Mat: 6 lbs
Rear Seats: 57 lbs
Rear Seatbelts/hardware: 15 lbs
Front Seats: to be determined. My new seats weigh 27 lbs each!
I estimate i can save at least 140 lbs with the front seats replaced, which would bring the total weight so far to around 270 lbs total. Thats a big b!tch in the passenger seat gone!
Most of the weight is in the back, so I gotta find some stuff to do up front haha. I plan on doing 2 pc rotors, lighter wheels, lightweight flywheel, lightweight pulleys, fast intentions LTH's, etc. All in good time.
I'll post pics up as soon as its done.... TRUST ME!
UPDATE: Here are the back seats with the seats out and the materials i will be using for the install. I am going to South Africa for 2 weeks so it will be after that.
UPDATE ON EVERYTHING!
So far I have only gotten to put the two front seats in. The brackets just came in 2 days ago and finally had some time today.
Stock seats are heavy as f***, but they truly are a work of art. The comfort is unbelievable. The new seats still don't compare to the perfect stock seats. But they are heavy haha
New seats are really light. As far as the seat height, I am disappointed. I thought for sure they would sit lower than the stock seats, but they are, in fact, higher. For a 6'3" guy, it doesn't help me any. As far as hold, I didn't transfer my seat belt buckles yet and did not need them. They held me right in place. As far as weight, I can definitely notice a difference with acceleration. Heres a quick photo:
Still trying to work on the back seats, found someone to do it for me because i tried unsuccessfully.
UPDATE:
So it rained today and i didnt work at all so i actually attempted to do some work. I got just the base done. I am gonna make a foam bottom to drown out some of the noise from no rear seats. I also am gonna wrap it with maybe carbon fiber and have alacantara inserts put in?? Idk i gotta figure out what ill wrap it in. Im also going to make a center console too. Not sure how. Any input is appreciated. Here are some pics:
Sorry i only have an iphone so pics r sh!tty. Thats what im gonna wrap. Also, i put this post in the original post as well for those just joining.
UPDATE 1/31/12
Update: going back to stock on the interior. As much as I want to not always have to haul my friends around, it is somewhat nice to have back seats every now and then. I will be putting my back seat back in place. The rear panels I made are very noisy and kind of irritating for a daily driver.
UPDATE 2/23/12
Installed Ap racing 6 pot/4 pot. There is an increase in acceleration, definitely noticeable. However, more importantly, it stops on a dime!!
Also just received my titanium exhaust that is discussed later in this thread. Cat back Amuse R1 Extra titanium gold ring
Cant wait to get this on. Probably wont affect anything much as I have the stillen exhaust on now. this thing probably only weighs about 15 pounds total though. Can't say that about the stillen!
Update 6/11/12
Video of amuse exhaust/soundclip up!

I understand the weight savings for performance, I used to do that to my civic when I was younger and very poor and craving the slightest advantage.
But I would rather get more power and better suspension than strip the car out.
Then again, BMW and some other companies sell a stripped out light weight version of their cars for more, so what do I know.
