G37S Extreme Diet
I agree that this is, by far, one of the most interesting threads I've seen on the forum. I can't wait to see what the OP has done with his car thus far. Definitely anticipating more pics.
But I do have a question for the OP: What if you just supercharged or turbo-ed your car instead? I'm sure that all the money you've spent on your current mods and weight-reductions would be somewhere equivalent to the price of either TT or SC, would it not? Would an FI'd G37 take you in terms of performance? You'd be retaining a lot of comfort with far less PITA. I might be wrong, so anyone else, chip in on this. But wouldn't, say, a 550 WHP G37--costing about the same as what the OP has spent--be a lot faster in terms of performance? Yes, he would spend more gas, but I don't think that's a concern. Or... or is your plan to weight reduce the car and then FI it? That would be a totally different story, hence would eradicate my question.

At a canyon or at the track? Not even close.
Def time for an update. Haven't accomplished what I would have liked to by this point, this year has been crazy busy
So far I am still just rocking the corbeau seats, but I did just finally get a nice set of stock seats back that I will be putting back into the car. The stock seats are so nice even though they are so heavy haha. Im still planning on possibly leaving the rears out and doing what I wanted, just with the comfy seats up front again. The corbeaus make my back and legs ache after about 2 hours, which the stock seats never did, and I miss the heated seats and memory functions. It also def takes away from the luxurious/expensiveness of the car, making me feel kind of juvenile in a way.
However: There really is a noticeable difference with the racing seats in, I really do mean that. Also, when I put my volk G2's on, I could tell an ever so slight difference. I still am going to do a BBK w/ 2 piece rotors (wilwood 6 pot/4 pot), but still have to decide if I want my rear seats back in or want to pay a little more money and have something done in the back, but will probably put the rear seats in.
I am switching from the Tanabe's to KW V3 coils (come in wednesday), tanabes are a bit too soft. I had to have my 100 lb gf sit in the rear seat area for a short ride home and my car rubbed like crazy with just 100 lbs in the back. Little softish for my liking but def rides nice. I'll be interested to see how much better the KW V3's are everyone loves them.
Got my 180 Treatment (not that it pertains to weight loss, but looks great)
@ Chi City thanks for the support ha I aggree 10% weight reduction on this car would be nuts, that would be 350 lbs off and I can tell you what a difference 200 lbs makes. Add in a couple of those lbs as unsprung weight and it would be insane. You can def. feel a big difference with the weight out
@ Soliditude I don't know lol. My recent idea is to lose some weight and then gtm stg 2 supercharge possibly, but I have to work my a$$$$$$$$ off haha. Superchargers would throw 75-90 lbs on the front of the car, which would change the distribution to that of 56/44% front to rear. I know nissan attempts to do a dynamic 50/50 distribution with cars, which results in a static 53/47 weight distribution, but under full load would be 50/50 (from what I have read, Someone else chime in). If I could do the work I want to in the front of the car (lightweight battery, pulleys, 2 piece rotors, lightweight flywheel, lightweight wheels, long tube headers) I could lose approx 111 pounds off of the front of the car (46 being unsprung and making a bigger difference). If I added a supercharger back on, it would still be slightly lighter than stock up front, but still within spec of 53/47. I really don't know if i can swing the supercharger though, I'm thinking I will be happy when I install the longtubes and get the motordyne intake manifold/tune it. I'm sure ill be plenty happy with the lightweight mods. IDK though I feel like I can change my mind every other day haha. Yes It would be about the same as what I have spent, but these are things I was going to do anyways. I didn't just want a stock g with a supercharger, I love the wheels I have and all I have done. It has made the car drive amazing.
Here are some pics with the wheels:

I will do a proper photo shoot when its done, time is killing me now though

Thanks for the update, man. Well, I think what you're doing is pretty badass. If you throw a SC onto it down the road, you'd be rocking a monster--but only after you lighten the front, like you said. I'm sure the G37 community will love to see your final result. I know I will.
I love the way you had your lights done, by the way. Sexy. And yes, the stock seats are just lovely. I love sitting on roadtrips in 'em.

So it rained today and i didnt work at all so i actually attempted to do some work. I got just the base done. I am gonna make a foam bottom to drown out some of the noise from no rear seats. I also am gonna wrap it with maybe carbon fiber and have alacantara inserts put in?? Idk i gotta figure out what ill wrap it in. Im also going to make a center console too. Not sure how. Any input is appreciated. Here are some pics:

Sorry i only have an iphone so pics r sh!tty. Thats what im gonna wrap. Also, i put this post in the original post as well for those just joining.

I like the idea of carbon fiber! If you're making your car as lightweight as possible, having CF is perfectly suiting for that. Plus, in my opinion, CF looks amazing when done right. Dynamat would probably help with the noise reduction, but I've heard that stuff puts on a lot of weight, so I guess it's out of the question.
I admire your enthusiasm, but I have to agree that stripping a luxury touring coupe is a little like reinventing the wheel.
Now that I have said that, consider lighter wheels, rotors, and exhaust system (replacing the exhaust system could save 50 pounds alone). My first reaction to removing the back seats was why not just put them down and leave them like that, but I digress and fully understand your reasoning.
Unless you have saved all of the parts, you may have destroyed the resale value of your car, many potential buyers may not want all of the goodies you have installed.
Enjoy your project and have fun with a truly one of a kind G.

Resale is not a concern to everyone. If he bought a more expensive car and took the path less traveled, there's a reason.
On that note, it's scary how easy it is to bring a G down to Z weight, if you know where to address the issue.
Yes, thanks mike, resale is not really a concern of mine. And it is amazing the difference. I added my stock seats back in due to comfort and luxury reasons yesterday. I will leave the back seats out like i originally proposed.
@ hobbs, why don't you buy me the recaro seats :-) haha. No just couldnt justify spending over $3,500 dollars for sportster cs seats and brackets when they really don't lose that much over stock. I still want it to look classy, which is why I did end up getting rid of the corbeau fronts. They look nice, I just thought they might look a little nicer in my car.
