Certified Pre Owned?
Certified Pre Owned?
I have my eye on an '09 with only 15k miles on it.
It's got everything but the tech package.
Anyway, it's not Certified Pre-owned by Infiniti. The salesman said Infiniti Pre Owned is a joke. He mentioned that it's "Lisle certified" meaning, you can view a link to it here:
Infiniti of Lisle - Infiniti dealer serving Lisle, IL
My question... is Infiniti Certified a "joke" as he put it?

If they exceed the Infiniti CPO warranty, then maybe it is... Make sure that the car didn't belong to anyone on this forum... ;-)
Just visited the site. It looks to be one or more levels below CPO. No warranty = no backing the certification.

Most certified whatevers are a joke. They check a few things but don't do anything that will guarantee the integrity of the car. It's just a feel good thing for customers. Most dealerships are smart enough not to tell you that though. The car should have the balance of its warranty left, but I'd be curious as to why it's not certified preowned when they are an Infiniti dealership. Was the car so bad it couldn't even pass the silly pre-cert process? Hard to say.
Almost all official CPOs have an extended warranty that kicks in after the original warranty expires. I can't think of a CPO plan that doesn't work like this. I was looking at a 335 that had over five years of total warranty and about 88k miles of warranty left (New+CPO). It was also selling for about 10k less than new with a warranty that is better than new.
You should ask about the history of the car. The dealer should have a Carfax ready for any potential buyer to review. It's not perfect (some things may get left off), but it's better than nothing.
Is this an off lease car? Those 15k miles may be extremely "hard" miles.
The Carfax is available online through cars.com - it was a "corporate fleet" vehicle which I'm assuming means some dude beat the crap out of it while it was his company car hah
I found a 2010 G37X in my area, new, premium, nav, tech. VPP price was 39k. Gonna see if I can get it a bit lower.
