2010 M35 has the 7AT, the M45 has the 5AT.

you might have trouble finding streight rear wheel drive in Chicago as opposed to the G37X (awd). Infiniti of Lisle and Orland park only had X's on the lots due to sh**** weather during winter. I got a 2010 g37x sedan in April and love the awd and transmission. i have read the threads referring to the transmission downshifts and it seems this was more of a severe problem on the '09's as i have not felt any jerky downshifts while breaking. I do feel slight downshifts coming to a stop but seems normal and I would expect that with a performance oriented trans. Also the awd with the 7at has tremendous grip with acceleration on dry and wet pavement. my favorite is taking a turn while its raining and nailing the gas mid turn. the car does not flinch and accelerates as if there were no loss of traction.

i dont mean to ask a question on ur thread but r u looking for more performance or more of gas saving? i have a 5at and have been told that the performance on the 5at is better but not by a lot as far as gas saving the 7at will give u a lil bit better mpg.

We are looking for a semi performance car. Both me and my wife don't really need cars as we both live and work in downtown Chicago. We basically just have cars for our "weekend fun" and occasional transportation when we dont feel like taking the train/subway, bus, or taxi. I'm starting to lean more towards the 5AT now after reading some more threads.

5AT is much more responsive (not so much the transmission itself but the thrtle mapping on the older cars). Its very noticable. All out acceleration the 7AT is a little quicker. The gas milege is a little better on the 7at but it still sucks and is nothing to get excited about.

Paddles can be (relatively) eaily added to any G for less than $300. The sport package is very cool if you need it. if you don't its just a pain with narrow bolstered seats and summer tires (in chicago??? maybe the X is the way to go??). Looks wise though the sport is a better looking car IMHO but it won't go any faster and it's still a G either way.

Thanks for the info, again it sounds like we should get a 5AT. Sometimes we think about getting the X, but we wouldn't really drive it in snow ever. I also have a 07 civic DD (or well i call it that.. tho i rarely drive it) that has some all seasons on it. If anything we just take that if we need. I am also thinking about selling that civic and buying a range rover sometime soon.

I have owened both the 7 and 5 AT. I would not trade my &at back for the 5 for any reason. The gas milage is way better . it is more responcive. cruses way better on the Hi way. Get the & at you will be happier
