14 months and 24K on the clock
This post is more for those who cruised the forums of cars they were going to buy, (like I used to) and who want real world experience of current owners before they buy so here goes:
Other cars owned: 2009 s2000, 04 STI, 1997 TT Supra, C4 Corvette, 68 non OEM Camaro 350 small block, 2006 Honda Civic Si, and a bunch of sedans and trucks..
Own 08 g37s with 24K miles.
Problems: NONE
Power: realizing this is a "compared to what question" I am extremely happy with both the power and it's smooth delivery. I have grown to love the engine.
Handling: A great GT car, bordering on sports car territory but weight inhibits that. I love taking this car on back roads.
What about cruising on the highway: Simply fantastic. The best I have ever owned. A great feel with great compliance. And then you can get off on a back road and have a blast. Hats off to Nissan!
Steering feel or how connected to the road: Very good rating a notch below Bimmer. I love the feel of the steering on this car. It feels perfectly weighted. Why the comment about the Bimmer? I spent extensive time in a 330i around the race track at Lime Rock park in CT this summer.
Fun factor: Very high
What car would I trade in for: I am so satisfied with the car that it would have to be a substantive jump up like GTR or Porsche C4s. Cayman does not do it for me because I have an s2k. However, the only car in its price range I could be talked into would be an EVO X MR. That thing has killer handling.
All in all I am not a Nissan fan boy but love the car.

This car is a S-L-O-W pig!
It's fine for getting groceries and grandma... but, if you want performance... get a sports car!
Your S2000 should out handle the Evo X MR.
I have the same feelings about the G37, and still think it's the best all around car I've ever owned. The only cars I would want to replace it with are one of the 'muscle sedans' (C63, IS-F, CTS-V, etc.). But I'm a little ways away from being able to afford one of those.

The g is a great car for the price. There are better things out there. Who ever is interested in buying the car should just go and test drive them and not let the forums influence their decision because before I bought my 08 sport coupe I was considering s2k CR, 06 M3, 07/08 TL-S, g37s.
I was at a local food place eating with friends and we got to talking abotu cars and one of my friends was like dude check fields infiniti they have like 100 cars on their lot, so just for the heck of it I called them then and then I one guy answered and I was like yo, do you have an athens blue fully loaded 6speed, and he said yea we had two, you wanna come test drive it now? So I was like wow im 18 years old he wont let me test it so i told him dude Im 18 is that okay and he said yea its fine so I went and test drove it, took it on the highway, Basically fell in love with it, left a deposit of $1,000 and came back the next day and filled out paper work and took it home.
My point of the story is that whoever the buyer is should try out the car, thats when you end up falling in love with it. I liked the g so much that I didn't even bother checking out prices/options/test drives for the other cars I was interested in purchasing.
and what made my day even better was that I didn't tell any of my other friends/family that I was buying it until later when it was already in my hands.

My point of the story is that 18 yr olds can afford a 40k car. whoever the buyer is should try out the car, thats when you end up falling in love with it. I liked the g so much that I didn't even bother checking out prices/options/test drives for the other cars I was interested in purchasing.
