13.8 MPG in the city!!!!
You may want to reset the indicator!
Basically to get the exact MPG you will need to calculate it yourself:
1) Fill your tank full.
2) Reset either Trip A or B to 0.
3) The next time you fill the tank, take the number of miles driven since the last fill and divide it by the number of gallons you just put in the tank.
That would give you the exact MPG for each fill up.
Actually, that number is very feasible. When I bought my G, my first tank was about 20 mpg combined (65% highway, 35% city) as well.
I filled up Sunday. I've put 238 miles on it since then, all city. Reset all timers, trips meters, etc. Averaging 19.7mpg and 39mph. And this is with a lot of hard acceleration. If I don't chirp the tires into 2nd I turn back and take the launch at the light again haha. I try to keep it at no more than 3 over the speed limit though, too many cops around here. And I try to stay in whatever gear will keep me cruising at roughly 2,500rpms.
Last tank I averaged exactly 13.8mpg. All driving up and down PCH between Huntington and Newport, pure stop and go. If I hit the freeway at all, my mileage jumps up around 17-20. I let my father borrow my car for a week, he averaged 23 with mixed driving. That proved to me it's the way I drive.

I don't even get 3/4 of that when I drive a mix of 60/40 highway/city...
Small town. Inside the town (maybe a square mile) is 25mph limits. The surrounding area is all 45-50mph limits for long stretches. Like I said, I accelerate fast to minimize the time that the 0-44mph acceleration is contributing to my average mph haha.
Didn't notice I had originally said 39mph haha. That would be sweet but I doubt anyone could get that in all city. I average 29mph*

im at 6600 miles and my city/hwy mix is about 17.6 right now. do this:
1. reset the mpg meter
2. drive a lil more conservatively
3. make sure ur air filter is clean and proper and tire inflation is good (which i assume it is or TPMS would have flipped on)

I get around 20mpg in city and around 30mpg on the highway. AVG out to 27 combined. Im not bull****ing. You driving habit is a huge factor.
Don't accelerate to red light or stop sign. Avoid exceeding 60mph on the highway. Coast in neutral down hills. Inflate tires to 40-45psi (side wall max is 53). Keep engine RPMS between 1.2k - 2.2K. These are all tricks that can noticeably improve MPG.
Before I used to get around 15mpg in the city.

I've got around 24k on my G, due to my 30mi. drive to work and back everyday, and im sittin at 17.9 mpgs. Secret: If you want ur average to read 99 mpgs get on a long road, and around the same time throw it in neutral around 65mph, and reset ur average. it makes for a cool picture.
I believe the huge difference in the numbers for "city" driving are completely based on how much stop and go you do in your particular "city" driving. I just went an entire tank of nothing but "city" driving and only averaged 13.5MPG. This is daily stop and go traffic going to work, with the A/C blasting away in the 90 degree south florida sun. I tried to baby the throttle as much as possible to see what I came in at, and in the end I was at 13.5.
Overall since I've had my G, I average 16.2MPG which of course includes some highway driving, so to those that are getting close to 20 in "city" driving, your "city" must be open roads with no traffic and no stopping, because there is no way in hell anyone can avg. even close to that in real stop and go "city" driving.
