a bunch of people have had this problem basically your looking at about 13k just to change through the dealership because they want all your money. easiest bet is to sell privately and rebuy. i also was looking into a 6mt but got shocked at how much it would cost and just said ill live it out for 3years till the lease is done and ill be happier later down the road. just stick it out and have fun in DS and rip a bunch of cars =D

You will not regret it. I live in LA with the worst traffic in the world but when I take my G out on an open or windy road it is all worth it. Both my cars are stick and it is like 2nd nature driving in them both. It rarely ever becomes a pain to own one. My other ride is a 63 ford falcon convertible. It is not a rocket like my G but more like a beautiful timeless cruiser. Still, nothing beats the feel of the butter-like feel of that 4 speed tranny. On the other hand I am happy the hear that Infiniti is living up to its name with its 5AT and its user friendly responsive paddle shifters. It does take practice getting good at quick shifting with 6mt on the G. I haven't completely perfected it yet, but my first test drive showed me its potential and everyday that I drive it I feel more and more confident. Never got to experience the 5AT. Would love to go for a ride. Maybe a swap for a few hours. Just don't try to keep mine.
I'll trade with you for a while. All of my cars have been stick until the G. Still no regrets.

true, i haven't seen one thread about a 6mt driver wishing they had bought an automatic.

A lot of people say "traffic and blah blah blah", but once they actually learn how to drive a stick, traffic is no longer an issue.

Not entirely true. The G is my first automatic car (I even learned to drive on a stick) and even though I am good at driving a stick, there were days that driving it in traffic would **** me off (esepecially after a hardcore leg workout. My leg would shake evertime I would depress the clutch pedal!) Some people just love to drive stick more than others i guess.

Not to pick on anyone but I used to be scared of driving a 'heavier' clutch car in heavy traffic (I live in Toronto) and on hills. It seemed like an unnecessary thing to worry about since technology today has automatics performing as well as anything that comes in a stick.

But now I've had to live with my 6MT G37 in Toronto for a while... not a big deal. So the argument of "I have to drive an auto tranny because of traffic" is an excuse I no longer accept! If you want to say, "I'm lazy" ... then ... that's OK.

J/K -- some people prefer to row through the gears ... some don't. That's cool.

I agree. I too learned to drive on a stick and have owned many of them. But as I suggested before, if your driving needs change then an automatic may be best. My plan is to do both: use my auto as a daily driver, and buy an old 4-speed roadster to tool around in on weekends.

People deal with alot of things when they are being paid to do it. I would drive stick all day long too if i was being paid for it. As a nurse, the things I have to do for a paycheck........

I'm on the same boat, but it will cost a lot to get out of your AT (at least a couple thousand), so stick with it. The thought of having to pay those damn bank fees is good enough to change my mind.

I drive a semi for UPS and it takes 5 shifts just to get through an intersection, but we do not use the clutch. When I get off work the last thing I want to do is shift.
