Smile Gear in Roof Flap Mechanism

Hello, I'm new to this and not sure what I'm doing, what is best to do, to get the help I'm looking for. I am looking for the gear that so often goes bad in the roof flap system on a G37 convertible. I found an offering on ebay at https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...852.m570.l1313. The picture does seem to match the pictures or images from videos I've seen where the gear is being shown. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it, whether with the specific question or how to be a better participant on the site

I would recommend you contact @Guy Menard and enquire about his set of gears. His are proven replacements. I wouldn't trust any plastic/ resin replacement from eBay but that's just me.

I had hoped to find something in between plastic or resin and Mr. Menard's gold standard gears. I found some that are supposed to be aluminum and I think they would do, but the pictures of them don't show them as a match, the small gear that engages the four gears in the housing are not shown and I don't see any way the gear pictured would work. But, I'm still interested in a gear somewhere in the middle of the plastic/resin type and the high-quality/high priced one of Mr. Menard. Thanks for your reply
