Colossal Top Mistake - HELP

Colossal mistake I made tonight. Heard some chirping from the rear of our 09 vert, and was going to just raise and lower the top (haven’t done so in many months, and cycling thru once always stopped the chirp previously). Forgot to remove a tote bag (12x9 inches) way in the back of the trunk. Halfway down it stopped moving, and was horrified to see the blue tote bag wedged under the roof and below the parcel shelf (see photo). It is wedged so tight can’t move the bag at all. The top is stuck in that position. The top will only slightly raise and lower the parcel shelf, then cuts off, presumably the bag is obstructing operation and some sensor then shuts down. Any possible ideas? Besides dealership (45 min away Nissan Dealership, will have to flatbed, and they couldn’t work on top when it had problems years ago- had to ship to Oahu dealership. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am the stupid.

The only solution is to use CONSULT. You can at least move the parcel shelf with it.

Sorry- what is consult?? In the meantime, I removed the shelf, and had minimal access to remove a few things from the bag, which luckily allowed the top to completely open and lock. Now it’s driveable at least, but unfortunately the top won’t go beyond halfway point closing due to the tote bag being wedged in there. At least it still works, with no warnings of any type when completing the top opening. Any more ideas how to get
tote bag out would be greatly appreciated.

You can see the blue tote bag wedged partially under the top, and below where the parcel shelf has to retract to. Thanks.

thanks got it. Just looked it up. The software tool. I removed the parcel shelf, and was able to get the top to properly lock in the open position. But that blue tote is wedged in the corner under part of the top, and won’t budge a mm. Do you think with CONSULT we could slowly/carefully move the top partially and have access. I’ve tried pulling out pieces of the bag with pliers, but getting nowhere. Thanks much. Any help appreciated.

Consult will let you move the parcel shelf without moving any other parts. So yes I believe it would let.you get the tote out. It will also let you get the top back into a position so you can do a relearn.

Great thanks. Makes sense. Without the parcel shelf there’s likely more room to maybe independently move something electronically to get the bag. But unfortunately the key move going up is for the parcel shelf mechanism to retract, and that’s where the bag is wedged.

The distance is a little far for a weekend trip to help. Shoot me a PM and we can discuss other solutions.
