I reverse-engineered those flapper motor gears and now have them for sale. They made using Carbon Fiber reinforced PLA, so they way stronger than OEM plastic gears.
Here is a link to buy:

2009/2011 only

Nice but, i think that you need to advise that this gear model will fit only on 2009 to 2011 models... if you don't provide the small metal gear. Supplier change the design on 2012 and later models.

So, it wont fit on 2012/2015.

I think Guy is correct. I have used Guy’s gears on my 2013 and they worked perfectly.

I found the manufacture sticker;
Manga Steyr Japan,
Supplier BROSE
Designation Flap Assy PShelf Side LH
Part-no, 79915JJ51A
Index BFE

I disassembled the actuator. It works with a small motor driving a worm gear. The worm appears to be metal but the gear is plastic. To make the build more complicated, the arm is driven through a planetary gear system attached to the main gear.

So, has anyone had luck sourcing the plastic gear? Or the whole actuator?

I'll post pictures when i figure out how.

Thanks,

Check Ebay out, Guy there is selling gear made of carbon fiber instead of the plastic BS. there is a right and a left the threading is specific to each side. https://www.ebay.com/itm/25497810968...YAAOSwhcpgnbDZ

Well, depending on the PLA he used it is likely between 15% and 20% chopped carbon fiber and the rest is plastic made from corn. I hope the extra carbon fiber content helps with warping in the heat. I 3D printed some interior parts for my Miata using regular PLA and they warped after a brutal Texas summer. A buddy of mine printed some sun visor brackets for his plane and they ended up warping in the heat as well.

I am printing an organizer for my G37 center cubby right at the moment, but since I park in the garage now I am not worried about warping. And even if it did warp, it is just to keep my stuff organized and the structural integrity is not really of concern

Plastic gears vs metal gears

Many guys tried to fabricate gears by 3d printing, not very hard to do but...effectively, the plastic used for 3d print is very sensitive to heat and, because the motor/gear case design, it won't support the torque generated for very long. Pretty sure, even if someone add carbon fiber in the mixt, it won't las for long.

I personnaly tried many recipes before ending by get metal gears fabricated. It's undeniable that plastic cost way less to fabricate but...it's not advantagious if those break again after couple cycles. Metal gears are more expensive to fabricate but, they will never break and will last forever.

i think it fully worth the investment. But, that's only my opinion!!!

I remember back in the mid/late 90's when Honda had the del Sol "TransTop" (JDM-only) that utilized plastic gears to tilt the roof before the "arms" reached in and lifted/dropped the top. Those plastic gears were notorious for stripping because of the weight of the roof (≈35lbs.).

I will never understand why manufacturers insist on using cheap plastic gears for certain applications. If I had a dollar for every appliance, toy, tool, or other gadget that failed because of a broken plastic gear...

Anyone who faces this issue should seriously consider using metal replacements... plastic will almost always fail at almost always the most inopportune time... Just my 10¢.

I need help on finding just the flipper doors. I had the partial shelf motor motor go out and i live 250 miles from the nearest Infiniti dealer. I took it to a Nissan dealer near by. Well they ended up breaking both flipper doors. They said they were already broken but they were not. I need both flipper doors with the mounting plates. I have called all over and can not get a part number. Has anyone just purchased the doors only or does it only come with the complete partial shelf side assembly. I have tried ebay with no luck.

Flipper doors

Not sure what you mean about "flipper doors"? Those flaps are connected to a linkage assembly with an harm, the common problem is the gears inside de casing broke down and the harm fall down or stuck mi course ( depends on model year). How can they could break that harm or the flap cover???.

if it's what i think, replacement of the gears will solve your problem, instead of buying a complete linkage and why mounting plates are needed???

maybe some picture will help to see what's exactly your problem.

From what the dealer told me that the top was jammed up because of the shelf motor going out. Everything works but the flipper door on both sides was cracked bad from the roof jamming. I just need the door itself and the base plate that mounts on the arm. I think i am screwed unless i can find them at a wreaking yard.

The top flap is mounted to a bottom plate which bolts to the arm.
