i just wanted to say hi to this honorable audience and to sign up the squeaks and rattles list. my car has been so far for 7 times at the dealer - for noise-related issues and a lot others. nothing changed, but i sort of doubt they're really trying anymore. rattles are permanent (about 4 of them, different pitches and frequencies, as loud as in an u-haul truck). something's dangling in the trunk when i happen to hit potholes at low speeds. and it squeaks like a wooden boat when i go over speed bumps.
i went to 5 other dealers and drove all the other hardtop convertibles, paying attention to the noises, and trying to make myself comfortable with the idea they're all the same. they are. the g37s is the exception - it's the only noisy one. i dont think i accept that noises can be dependent on the outside temperature as a valid excuse. and ultimately, i dont think it's fair to compare the noises from a g37 convertible with the noises from one single honda civic: according to the prices we paid, we should be comparing with the noises from 3 civics.
squeaky-squeaky clinky-clinky everybody, if you ask your infiniti dealer you'll be told that's the new sound of automotive luxury.

i brought my car in for the tsb before and they put foam under the rear window. this helped but it still rattles like crazy. is there anyone that has has this corrected with no rattle? wehat needs to be done? car is booked in again for next week. there is a light rattle aside from the big ones coming from the right rear part of the headliner and im sure its a cable tapping against the metal. they should be able to put foam on it. anyway anone know a real permaneant way to fix this issue or do we just gatta live with this? car sounds good with roof off. lol.

EXACTLY
I typically only drive mine with the top down - it doesnt make any noise and if it does, just crank up the radio until you cant hear it anymore.
My Vert is presently in the shop for a buzzing shifter **** and I asked them to review for any other squeaks & rattles. They just called to let me know about this ITB and also offered to replace the seat belts and door panels too (even though they arent damaged beyond a minor scuff that the service guy noticed). They will have my car through tomorrow to allow for parts to arrive and advised that the C Pilar rattle fix is a significant job as they remove the entire headliner and tape & foam a ton of areas...
I just hope they dont open a can of worms and create any issues - my ride is pretty tight!

ITB 071 rework for headliner is easy if the mechanic does it correctly-
I haven't had any ITB or any rework/repair done on mine yet, the only thing I have asked for is the new seat belt retractors ( my dealer has them), I have to take it in some times.
I have a rattle in the trunk. I just figured out today that it occurs when the trunk is empty. If I have the trunk loaded with my equipment for work there isn't a noise and if the top is down there isn't a noise but with the top up and the trunk empty there is a rattle. Has anyone else had this one?

If my car sits over night, I may gets some faint rattles in the back rear corners. I find when I cycle the roof, they will be gone until the next day. I think the top somehow retensions itself going down and back up because any noises that may have been there are always gone. Since I now run my car top down most of the time, the few times it's up, are usually dead quiet.

Take a copy of ITB10-071 for rattle fix to your dealer and see what does he tell you then?
