Guys they want an M3 competitor, not a 911 killer. Nissan already has a Porche slayer, they are going after the Ultimate Driving Machine.

I don't mean to bust your bubble but there will be no 530hp on a G Sedan. If they were to come up with a 530hp it will be a completely different car.

PS: Article is more than 5 months old
This. There are like 5 threads on this but it's always good convo. We will obviously see what is to come here in the next couple months with the release of the sedan. The dates on that article are way off so I'm sure a lot of the information is as well.

The main strength of the G was that it offered similar performance of a 3 series but at much lower price point. If they start messing with that formula, it will lose its edge.

I'm on my 6th G car (3 coupes, 3 sedans) since 2004 and bottom line always comes down to price. Sure I can afford a 335, but is it worth the extra $5k? Heck no. They need to keep price as their competitive advantage.

Unfortunately, majority of car buyers look at badge before anything (not on this site, of course). 90% of 3 series drivers are women staring at their iPhones or d-bags wearing white sunglasses drinking a Red Bull. Ultimate Driving Machine? I don't think so Tim. It's dang near impossible to find a 6MT 3 series on the lot these days.

Either way, I'm hoping for a turbo-4/AWD combo 6MT in the next G sedan. One can always wish...

just know they understand that they need to put some serious changes in the engine =) but I guess it would cost some big bucks.

So the C63, E63, CLS63, S63/65, M3, M5, CTS-V, ISF, S6, RS4, Quattroporte are all pointless cars that have faded quickly?

I really don't think so!

Indeed. Powerful sedans that handle well will always sell. The problem with the Pontiac G8 was.... it was a Pontiac.

Pontiac made some great cars in it's day...the problem with Pontiac was GM making bad decisions.

If it's priced competitively with the GT-R, why not get a twin turbo kit and engine internals for a current G, get it tuned, and save the extra cash?

For the same reason people buy the GT-R and not a G with a TT+internals.

That would be the IPL, not the standard G.

And that said, a true IPL that has close to the power (and price) of the GT-R will probably attract buyers who want a more luxurious interior and trim. I'm thinking if the pricing does come out that high, Infiniti's thought process is to target the likes of AMG and M, rather than a less glitzy but more raceworthy Porsche RS.

Old article..and it has dates wrong I'm pretty sure. I think the next G sedan is coming out in spring/summer 2013 as a 2014 model..starting production in 2014 as 2015 model makes no sense and would be too late. Dealers have already told me the 2013 G is only a half year model..and many aren't even ordering them in anticipation of the next model.

The new G comes out in June, and we are still ordering 13s until march. They came out in June of this year.

My local dealership hasn't ordered any new '13s yet at all (except for a couple coupes maybe) but no sedans. I think they are being careful. Good to know if the June date is true..but all the sources I've seen have been pretty confident with "spring" for the sedan. We'll probably hear the official date at the Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January.

Yea spring goes until the 20something of June. We just got 10 more 13 sedans in and I bet we'll see a few more trucks. I wish the would discount the coupes
