Weird Starting problems.

Good morning.
I have an weird on going issue with my car and it's been happening for about 1 year now. My car starts and shuts off sometimes. When this event happens the rpm seems to be real low, and i have to press the gas in order for it to start. I took my car to the dealership and they couldn't find out what the issue is.
Has anyone else ever had this issue and what did you do to fix it.

2011 G37 sedan.

I have the same issue, same car if yours is the S edition (2011 G37S). I've noticed it does it not on the first initial cold startup, but rather randomly after that. Itnalso delays / slows down the seat moving as it almost seemed like the battery is low (not the case)

Have you had your TB clean? That's what I'm going to look into.

My thoughts are (TPS) Throttle Position Sensor could be flakey, or the VVEL sensor.

hey bro. get your throttle bottle cleaned out. I had the same issue.

Dealer was going to charge me $175 but after taking my car there 3x and I finding out the answer from this forum they decided to do it for free. HOpe this helps.

I'll have to look into this as well as I'm having the same issue. Very, very random, can't reproduce it at all. I thought maybe I was letting my foot off the brake too soon, but the symptoms are exactly as OP describe. It turns over, then it's like the rpms just drop and the engine cuts out.

Andy, any chance you have a link regarding the throttle bottle?

'11 G37X Sedan as well.

I think the term is 'throttle body'.

Here's a thread on cleaning them:

I have or had this issue too for past year or 2 in my Xs. Seems like it hesitate to start or shuts off. By the 2nd or 3rd attempt no issue. And it happens randomly. Dealership said there are no codes that came up.

Do you use premium from a cheap gas station? I have for the past 3 yrs. For the past 2 months I've been using Mobil gas and no issue, bot sure if this resolved my issue, if I go another 4 month i would say it did.

It's definitely the throttle bodies. Follow the DIY. Takes about an hour. Good luck!

Had the same problem. Would happen to me about once a week. There's a really simple fix. You are not pressing the ignition button long enough at start up. I kid you not. Took it in 3 times, nothing found, had throttle bodies cleaned, helped a little but was still happening.

The longer you own the car with a push button starter, the quicker you tend to want to start it up. So you lazily just tap the button until you hear the engine start when you should be pressing it for about 2 seconds. When I started doing that, I haven't had an issue since.
