The G37 will not be outdated anytime soon. Hell, have you seen some of the G35 that are still rolling?? introducing a body style does not make your car outdated...

I remember years ago when I got my G35 everyone acted like it was some exotic car. Now I am starting to see G37 coupes everywhere I go (even my neighbor has the exact same car as me color and all). I don't necessarily think they are outdated as far as looks go, but they definitely lost their unique appeal. I feel like I'm driving a Camry these days. My lease is up here in a week or two. I was going to reluctanly get another G37 because it would be easy but I stumbled on a pretty good deal so I'm picking up an M Coupe. Its a 2007 (w/ very few miles) but I think it will still outlast my 08 G in the styling department/uniqueness. Its been great talking to everyone on here for the last 5-6 years but I guess I'm headed back to the *******s at the bimmer forums.

I can speak for the G37 in the Dallas area being more rare then a 3 series BMW or IS series Lexus. I was going to go with a 335i BMW, but noticed how many BMW's were around in the area and changed my mind. If you personalize the car and make it your own, you'll stand out regardless. That squatty looking rear end ruins that car in my opinion......just my .02

the spoiler front end treatment of your G37 looks great......is this something you/I can pick up aftermarket, and if yes.......what's the cost.

Did you flat paint to black out the grille???

Take care

Addendum: If you look at the evolution of the Porche one attitude says it's timeless, another that it's old and tired. They've strayed from what purists have defined as a Porche, missed, and missed badly, and have gone back to basics.

The G has the chance to steal a little of that glory, they should never change the headlights, the sculpture of the fenders, the beautiful look when viewed from the profile position, most of what this car is, is right on the money. Change the grille, play w/it, change the front spoiler, change all the little things you want, but do what a lot of folks do when they think enough time is passed that they have to change the look regardless, that sometimes can be very stupid.

The Triumph TR5 was a great little car, they had tweaked the body into the TR6, and they should've kept it that way, but they must've started dipping their Peyote in weedkiller because they come up w/the TR7 which bombs.

Mustang same thing, should've kept it light and tight. Mercedes 280SL convertible was so elegant, instead of quitting while they were ahead, they go to the 450SL, I could go on and on.

You've got a future classic in the G37, tweak it, improve it, it will evolve slowly, and it will get better, and if Infiniti is smart, they'll do this slowly, and when it needs to be done.

I wrote all this because I've seen it so many times before, the model that has been improved upon becomes worth a fortune compared to the later model that was supposed to be better. A mint 280SL convertible will cost you a fortune when you can give away a 450SL.

I may be wrong, but that's my take.

the body won't be for a while. the essence concept will make it relevant with minor changes for 6-8 years.

the engine will continue to evolve tho. nissan is a little behind in terms of implementing the direct injection engines

I live in the foothills of Orange County CA. Three series are so common, it's a plesent surprise to see most anything else in the class. Nice treat a few days ago, a black R8... sounded sweet.

The G Sedan is Infiniti's bread and butter. 40% of all Infinitis sold are G Sedans.

Whenever the next G Sedan comes out, it's got big shoes to fill. For example, Consumer Reports has rated the G Sedan as the best sports sedan on the market since 2007. Car & Driver rated it 10Best in 2007 and 2009.

I recently upgraded from a 2004 G Sedan to a 2010 G Sedan. One of the many reasons I decided to stay in the family is because the size of the G Sedan had remained very similar, as has the size of my garage.

2004 G Sedan = 186.5" x 69.5"
2010 G Sedan = 187" x 70"

I wonder if the next generation G Sedan will retain its shapely size, or become bloated.

No matter, whether "outdated" or not, I plan on driving the 2010 version for at least 6 years. Hopefully longer. It's already the best car I've ever owned. That list includes:

1994 BMW 540i
2000 Lexus GS430
2004 Infiniti G35

You don't have to worry about that. Infiniti can sleep their way through creating a successful G, which we can't say about any of their other cars.

You mention the current G was rated in C&D's Ten best, but the current G was actually somewhat of a let down from a performance and design standpoint compared to the G35. To be more specific, the G37 didn't rip through comparisons the way the G35 did and it's still a top competitor and has not missed a beat sales wise.

When Infiniti introduces the G25, I expect G sales upwards of 5000+ monthly and on their best months, I guarantee they are selling 6-7,000 G's. It might only be a few months but it will happen.

Point is Infiniti can do no wrong with the G.
