UpRev's OSIRIS Software Tune Reflash

From UpRev:
"Get more power and improved driveability with no downtime. Simply load our software onto your laptop, plug into the OBDII diagnostic port, and flash! The Osiris Software package includes the reflash software, our new vehicle interface cable, and Cipher - Data and Diagnostic software. Once we get the information from you regarding your vehicle and modifications, we will provide you with the correct tune to load onto your ECU.
Osiris allows for multiple reflashes, so you can update your tune as you add more modifications to your vehicle.

OK, who wants to be the first to shell out $700 bones for this software

Whats the odds that this will help improve a 06 AT with just exhaust and intake?

Waste of money?

I have UpRev's Cipher software and like it. I think they're smart guys and this is an interesting product. It certainly sounds better then sending your ECU our for a reflash, plus you can apparently make additional changes without spending extra money.

I'd say this kind of software will put the mail-in flashers out of business, but not be as good a putting your car on a dyno and having it tuned by an experienced tuner.

I like the Cipher, but IMO, spend an extra $300 to have Jeremy install a UTEC and dyno tune your car for your performance mods.

Cipher is a data monitoring tool that basically clones Nissan's Consult II through the OBDII port. Cipher can also display and cancel CEL codes, raise and lower idle, and advance and retard timing within a two degree range.

Osirus also connects to the OBDII port, but is designed to upoad firmware to enhance/modify the ECU. Osirus is basically an ECU flash tool for UpRev firmware updates. It eliminates sending the ECU off for a reflash. Just tell UpRev what mods you have and upload the ECU firmware they send you.

Osirus also comes with Cipher for the $700. I think this is a great deal for someone that wanted a flash and didn't want to send their ECU out for three days. This way you don't even have to remove the ECU, plus you get three maps, instead of one.

yeah guys, this is a one time "guess" for a flash. i tune cars ALL day every day and i have yet to even come close by loading in someones fully tuned map in for another person.

no way they can have a universal guess...

Give Jeremy (Audible Mayhem) a call to discuss UTEC installation and tuning. It's only about $300 more than the UpRev.

At what RPM does the UTEC take over, somewhere near 4000 rpm?

Sounds like a Flash and a UTEC w/tune would be a great combination.

The UTEC is a full RPM piggyback unit that controld fuel and timong.

A flash and a UTEC would be a waste of money and could possibly be counter productive.

Using Osirus to flash your ECU or using a UTEC to piggyback on your ECU are two different ways of tuning. You would use one or the other, not both.

With the Osirus Flash, the Programmers/Tuners at UpRev would be figuring out the tune for your G35 based on the mods you have. They'd email the firmware file to you and you'd use Osirus to burn it into your ECU. As you can imagine, this would involve some guessing to determine how your mods affect your particular G35. The better the guess, the better the tune.

A UTEC actually piggybacks on the ECU and controls the A/F ratio and timing like Sean said. Most people that buy a UTEC have a Tuner set all the parameters while running the car on a dyno. The advantage is that your car is personally tuned in real time. This method eliminates any guesswork because each individual G35 is being tuned on the dyno.
