Audio Shop in Tampa/Clearwater

I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on a good custom audio shop in the Tamp/Clearwater/St. Pete area.

I've heard AVE was good, and I was thinking to also check out Sound Advice and I think Reeves also has one on site, but I'm not sure.

Basically, I want a shop that has worked on G's before, or at least high end cars and has quality work. ANy recommendations? Thanks in advance for the help!

jb used someone else out that way as well and his install is very nice as well.

i did mine myself.

I have had all my stereo installations done at Stereorama in Clearwater for many years. They do great work and are the only place I can recommend. I don't mean that in a bad way, they just have always done good work for me, so I have never gone anywhere else.

They do mostly high end cars... a lot of Porsches for some reason... I would think that they would come with good sound. They also do show cars and special project cars... they're working on a car for Popular Hot Roddong Magazine at the moment... maybe it's done by now.

The do quite a bit of work on G35's... I've noticed a few when I've been in there. They put an Eclipse AVN5435 head unit in my G35 and followed that up with an amp, speakers, and a sub a few months later. Here's a link to my head unit thread:

I'm not sure what in particular you're looking for in stereo equipment, but I would feel safe letting the guys at Stereorama plan and do it. I have no financial connection to Stereorama, but I used to drag race with the owner about a million years ago. Here's a link to Stereorama and their address:

http://www.stereorama.com/

Stereorama, Inc.
1857 Gulf to Bay BLVD
Clearwater, FL 33765
Phone (727) 442-5201

If you go over, or call them, ask to speak to Bill... Tell him you talked to me (jb) and that you have a G35... you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the help guys...greatly apprecited...both shops, AVE and Stereorama, look good.

But looking at the pictures in your threads John, I think I will head over to Stereorama...that install looked great!!! I didn't know you had all that done...wish I saw it/heard it at the last meet...they did an amazing job!!!

For now, I'm just getting a JL sub/amp with a 4080 box...I'll probably do more later on. I wanted to do it on my own, but I'm still a newb to the whole audio thing.

Thanks again guys...I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

A JL 500/5 and a 4080 box will work well and will be stealth. jb has a 10W3 in his 4080 box and I have a 10w6 in mine.

What about Divine sounds? They are on Dale Mabry.

Does Will Alfonso still work there? He has been doing custom fiberglass work almost as long as I have. (over ten years) Plus, no one has more experience at making cars louder (dB Drag World Chamionships) than Krik @ Divine Sounds.

It sounds like Ahmed just wants to add an amp and sub to his existing system.

I'm not sure he'd need a 500/5 just to add a subwoofer. You could wire it to put out 500 on one channel for the subwoofer, but it would be cheaper and probably better to just buy a JL 500/1 or 250/1 in the first place. If he was thinking of swapping out the internal speakers in the future, a 500/5 might be the way to go.

I am not an expert by any means, but I have learned a bit from the guys at Stereorama. I originally wanted to purchase a 10w6 for my car... actually, I pretty strongly wanted to use a 10w6, and Bill talked me into getting a 10w3 instead. The JL 500/5 that I have splits out 250 watts to the subwoofer (5th) channel. 250 watts isn't really enough power to properly drive a 10w6.

My system is really pretty simple. The 500/5 splits out 100 watts to each front channel, 25 to the rear channels, and 250 to the subwoofer channel. I spent a little extra on my front speakers because I wanted to build a good sound stage and have high quailty music.

Having said that, the subwoofer impact has exceeded my expectations. I don't know how many boxes 4080 has sold, but I am very happy with mine. My system has enough bass to almost rip my rearview mirror off the windshield.

Thanks again guys for all the help...I stopped by Stereorama today and talked to Bill. After seeing the prices for the components (didn't know they cost that much), I think I'm going to stick to just a sub and amp for now. I haven't finalized everything yet, but I'll probably be going with a JL 10w3 and 250/1...not looking to blow anybody away with my system...just want something simple for now.

I will stop by AVE and Divine Sounds while I'm waiting on my 4080 box to come in just to compare prices.

Also while talking with Bill and Matt, they said they would be able to do the blue LED conversion for all my interior lights (dash, AC/Radio controls, etc)...they did it on an eclipse and it came out perfect...this has been something I've been wanting to do for sometime and might be the next mod after the sub/amp...thats why I'll keep it simple for now so I can save up

Thanks again for everyone's help!

Yea, the front components were the most expensive part of my speaker upgrade. They cost more than everything but the Eclipse head unit. That's why I did my system in two parts.

You might be surprised at how much bass a JL 250/1 and a 10w3 puts out. You won't be disappointed.

Cool. Glad you got to talk to the guys.

Matt is the guy who actually did all my installs. He is quite knowledgeable and really knows his stuff. I suppose everyone is happy with their stereo store, but Stereorama has always treated me well. They've done what they said they would do, for what they said it would cost, and it has worked like they said it would work.

I hope everything works out! Keep us posted.

Divine Sounds does good work. I know a guy who installs there that has done a couple of my friends systems.
