I regret that I can only thumbs-up this one time. Truer words, man.

IMHO - don't overcomplicate. Use worm clamps (which will likely work fine with new hoses until long after you've moved on to another car) or the OEM clamps with new hoses, and call it a day.

I see the merit in avoiding them on the main radiator hoses. We used them in the 80s/90s on those hoses and they were guaranteed to work themselves loose. On the small diameter host to the heater core, they can be used IMO.

What's important is to replace the connector ASAP then worry about the 10 year longevity of the clamp secondary.
