Distance sensor on front of G37S coupe!

Is the distance sensor needed? Helping a friend who got into an accident and the his front distance sensor is completely gone. Is this needed? It's pretty expensive and was wondering what it does? Like will any of his dash lights go off or something? Also if he were to do an IPL conversion where would the sensor go?

I presume you mean the rectangular Intelligent Cruise Control sensor on the drivers side center cutout? Without it you can't use intelligent cruise but may still possibly be able to use regular cruise control function, I'm not sure. But no dash lights or error codes will be thrown.

Dunno. I still have my 08 bumper, can't help you there. I guess you'll have to lose that functionality for the aesthetics of the IPL bumper.

Thanks for the prompt reply! But I wonder if I can get an answer from the people who have done the IPL front bumper conversion and like what they did with the sensor? Or if they just took it our or did it fit on the bumper somewhere and the functionality was retained?

I removed mine but it would not let me use the Cruise Control at all after that. So i plugged it back in I guess it has to complete the circuit with the ICC unit itself.
