Great looking kit I'm interested to see this thing completed!!!!




Although I think it's silly I'm going to jump into this turbo vs spool debate real quick and just mention a couple of things.

I think it's a lost fight .... there are way too many unknowns

1. Without knowing the true specs of the turbo "67mm" is a VERY open thing to say. Way to many things effect spool besides the turbine size. Housing for one makes a big difference, 8cm, 10cm, 12cm? All of these can make big differences.


2. I'm surprised no one mentioned piping. Piping will make a big difference not only to the turbo but back to the intercooler piping into the intake manifold.

Exhaust piping (normally i would be talking more about running size however we are dealing with more than just an exhaust manifold here) size is huge too. I mean many companies make 3-20 manifolds just testing piping size to see the effects of their turbo spooling and that's just in regards to runner internal diameter.

\et alone exhaust piping and sizing after the turbo and can will effect spooling as well.


There much more to add into the mix but lets just throw those to in the mix.

To end my 2cents ... Greddy's turbo kits for the 2.0 cars like Evo and STIs run a non ball bearing T67 25gs with 10cm and hitting 25psi at 4300 rpm. stock block but 272 cams and upgraded head studs. shruggs take it for it is.

I agree we're just gonna have to wait to see it on the dyno. I took a lot of time trying to make the pipe routing as simple and direct as possible.

The lowest point on the kit is just about level with the bottom of the car, the turbo is tucked up where the AWD gearbox sits. And the piping is tucked where stock exhaust would run. The lowest point where the passenger side header crosses the transmission is 1/2 inch lower then the belly pan, but that's close to wheels so a speed bump wouldn't hurt it. Might scrape it like your factory exhaust.

Some pics of the intercooler stuff basically done. Gonna fab a few brackets to stock bolt holes. Only thing left is Wastegate and a 6 inch peice of pipe to thedriver side header flange and oil system.

Was just goign to ask about he one going under the trans, Doesnt look right to me etiher, Pipping looks like it's different sizes?

I don't have a tig welder so I mig weld it with stainless wire and argon, The flash on my iPad makes the beads look weird but there actually clean beads. Argon makes really black and brown stains along with a good ammount of splatter. thats why it looks shiny around some of the eairler welds, I already hit them quickly with the grinder. I'll grind them almost smooth and polish it up so it looks like one solid pipe. You couldn't do this if the exhaust was holding the turbo because it does make the weld a little weaker, but my turbo has a solid mount to the trans crossmember. And I'll also be welding in a 3 inch flex pipe right after the 90 degree bend coming out of turbo so there won't be any force on the pipes if the motor tweaks.

There's a reducer before the trans so only a 2.5 inch pipe goes under trans not a 3 inch. There's a post before about this. The 3 inch piping goes from turbo to center of trans, then reduces to 2.5 and goes up and into passenger side header. The driver side has a straight 2.5 inch pipe comming from the header and merges into the 3 inch 45 degree that points piping to other side. The joints are all perfect, I spent a ton of time getting angles right. The welds on the other hand I wish I could say are perfect but they are good and with a little grinding and polishing look show worthy.
