Supercharged VQ37 goes BOOM!
Someone else mentioned it may have been a coincidence that it blew after the headers were installed and that may surely be the case. It does not sound like the car had ever been put on a dyno for testing as the "Stillen tune" was supposed to be adequate. The Infiniti dealership who installed the SC also installed the headers and I'm pretty sure their tech spoke with Stillen concerning a tune change and was told there was no need.
This is still working itself out so who knows what the end result will be.
Man that sux, Just glad infiniti stepped up and covered it. But makes me even more go GTM when the time comes..
Cobb has NO support for us audtatious. :/ wish they did.

With months invested in development work, these headers produce big increases in streetable power and torque on both naturally aspirated and forced induction vehicles.
The equal length design of the headers allows better and more efficient exhaust scavenging which contributes to the dyno tested performance gains.
Examples:
- 2004 350Z produced 11.5 hp at @ 6200 RPM and 18.5-lb.ft @ 3800 RPM at the wheels
- 2008 G37 Coupe produced 14.5hp at @ 7300 RPM and 12.5 lb-ft @ 4200 RPM at the wheels

Exactly. These shouldnt be another Stillen VS GTM thread until we realize what the failure was.
If the SHOP advised him they didnt need a tune, then thats the shops fault.
If STILLEN advised him he didnt need a tune, then thats Stillens fault.
Again, per the article, the car was running fine with the Stillen SC kit UNTIL the owner made another modification and didnt re-tune.
I think people should wait until we find out exactly what happened before we start the chastizing.
Exactly.
On the other hand, I firmly believe any FI kit that is on the market for the VQ37 will eventually blow the motor. I will continue to believe so until I see evidence to prove otherwise (meaning, someone with FI that has a motor that has survived driving habits similar to mine).
If there is a FI kit that is proven to be that reliable, I'll be first in line to buy.
YES it does matters. The Stillen kit alters too much of the stock parts making it much much harder to tune. Just wait till summer time hit's. I can be sure some people is gonna have problems
Plus here in AZ, it is always summer.
