I don't think stillen will pay for anything since he pretty much voided his CARB legal status by installing them headers.(if his was a CARB kit)
We don't worry about "CARB" around here as we don't have any emissions checks.
Someone else mentioned it may have been a coincidence that it blew after the headers were installed and that may surely be the case. It does not sound like the car had ever been put on a dyno for testing as the "Stillen tune" was supposed to be adequate. The Infiniti dealership who installed the SC also installed the headers and I'm pretty sure their tech spoke with Stillen concerning a tune change and was told there was no need.
This is still working itself out so who knows what the end result will be.
With months invested in development work, these headers produce big increases in streetable power and torque on both naturally aspirated and forced induction vehicles.
The equal length design of the headers allows better and more efficient exhaust scavenging which contributes to the dyno tested performance gains.
Examples:
- 2004 350Z produced 11.5 hp at @ 6200 RPM and 18.5-lb.ft @ 3800 RPM at the wheels
- 2008 G37 Coupe produced 14.5hp at @ 7300 RPM and 12.5 lb-ft @ 4200 RPM at the wheels
Does it really matter if it was a GTM or Stillen SC kit? I dont think any FI kit can blow the motor. It is all dependant on the tune.
On the other hand, I firmly believe any FI kit that is on the market for the VQ37 will eventually blow the motor. I will continue to believe so until I see evidence to prove otherwise (meaning, someone with FI that has a motor that has survived driving habits similar to mine).
^^ Hasn't Christian had his TT kit for over a year now with no issues and high power tune?
Christian doesn't do extended pulls. I'd like to know that I can WOT my car for extended sessions (20-30 minute sessions where youre WOT over 80% of the time).
If there is a FI kit that is proven to be that reliable, I'll be first in line to buy.

YES it does matters. The Stillen kit alters too much of the stock parts making it much much harder to tune. Just wait till summer time hit's. I can be sure some people is gonna have problems

Still it just comes down to ability to tune it properly. GTM may be simpler to tune, I agree, but the kits themselves cannot blow the motor.
