For those of you who still care about the 7 AT, a latest update of my adventures & tales. Filed another complaint with Infiniti via the Web Site. My original rep that was assigned to my earlier filing (which they respond too very quickly), is unreachable. The phone calls to Iof NA keep getting dropped. Just today, a new rep responded to my email via a call to my cell phone. I reiterated my single major disappointment with the car: The 7 AT's jerky, lagging, hesitant performance. He listened and I invited the rep to visit this and other forum sites to read the Hundreds if not thousands of posts concerning the 7 AT in the 09s, 10s, and 11s. He told me that Infiniti would not be able to give me my money back and take back the car "at this time".... I want to swap out my 2010 G37X for a 08 or 09 M35X CPO. Shopping now to try to do it. I asked the Rep, are there not any other complaints filed similar in nature to mine, his response: with tongue in cheek...." I won't lie to you, yes, there are other complaints in this regard" I told him that I had the TSB Reflash done in January, no real help. I finally ended the call with I expect complete satisfaction as this is my 4th Nissan / Infiniti vehicle in our family over the past 8 years, and again expressed my disappointment about the affected driveability of the car that seems to vary almost daily. He left the door open IMO, when he said Not at this Time.. I also sensed that Infiniti is visiting the issue seriously as there appears to be Numerous cites complaints and dissatisfaction. I told him that aside form this major issue _ The car is Perfect, Not a thing wrong with it..

I will try to post any further developments.

BUT FOR YOU FOLKS IN MY BOAT: I INVITE YOU TO POST YOUR EMAIL AT INFINITI'S WEB SITE - CONTACT US PAGE - FILL IT IN AND SEND IT OUT. You can make very long comments.

Hey Almatti,

I am going down the same path as you. I have explain the story to the assigned rep and she is "looking into it". I basically said the same thing as you that I either wanted a timeframe for fixing the problem or another vehicle w/out the problem. We'll see how I make out but I'm not convinced I'll get very far.

Between my wife and I we also have had tons of previous Nissan/Infiniti's - Xterra, Pathfinder, Murano, 3 G's. I don't think they care about that though.

The saga continues...

Hey Keg, Welcome aboard. I received a private message recommending to file under the Lemon Law. I don't hink that will work since the opinions from service managers is that the Tranny isn't broken it just perfroms that way.

As you will denote from my conversation with the Rep, Kevin, they did admit that "there are other complaints in this regard".... At this point I would be content to geta "Fix" or terminate my lease at NO $$$ to me and Move on.

Almatti - thanks, this forum is a great place to share information and everyone is very helpful.

Re: Lemon Law - there are firms that specialize in this stuff. You'd be surprised what they could pull off. I think it largely depends on the state you live in though. I live in MA and they have very good Lemon Law consumer protection laws. I think you don't pay a dime in MA as the dealer/Infiniti pays the firm. I may go that route if the advisor comes back with some bologna.

I'll keep you updated on how it goes.

I find that the reprogram did help with the driveability of the car but not enough. It still drives terribly. Our 08 G35 sedan with the 5AT drives much better. Dang...

Thanks for your comments Samps.....check out "Love the 7at" Thread. There are many posts and debates about the number of members who love the Tranny.... In total retrospect, if there wasn't so much hesitation particularly when braking then quickly stepping on the throttle (which still varies from day to day at lweast I find that occurring), I would also agree with those posters, it is agenerally good Tranny compared to other 6 AT s or 7ATs. as I have mentioned pages earlier on this thread, I have driven other company cars (Ford Fusion - 4 banger) with a 6AT, No Manual Mode (Dah??) and it does also hesitate on a down shift, it bucks and shows some jerkiness just not as Bad as my G37X..

BTW, heard from Infiniti directly pursuing my second direct email to Consumer Affairs. A District Manager (DM) is to meet me, drive the car with me, and they have already indicated that they will NOT pay to supply me with free Paddle Shifters {some folks say that helps alot}, but may let me out of my lease for no additional cost. I would be looking for something more since i paid all the sales taxes Up front. We'll see, I keep you posted.

Thought I'd Update this thread about the responses from Infiniti Consumer Affairs Claim I filed mentioned earlier. Last week, The FOM (Facilities Operation Manager equivalent to the District Manager) met me and drove with me in my 2010 G37X. Although part of the quirkiness of the performance is the fact that the response of the tranny can vary almost day to day (at least I find that to be so), that day and the day before, the drive was better, less hesitant. I could not duplicate the drastic lagging that ia hve experienced in my car. Worse in stop and go traffic 20-40 mph, I did test drive with him in that scenario. Some hesitancy was evident but not the terrible lagging I have felt before. Be that as it may, the DM did admit that he drives a G and now a 2011 M and He does Feel the same. It's the fact that there are too many gears, and the engineered throttle mapping can't be perfected - it was designed for better mileage, Many Variables affect the results of the ECU and TCM. After the 20 minute drive local roads and highway, we returned to the Dealership in White Plains, NY. His boss was there too. We talked and they offered sympathy & appeasement by telling me that the they are aware of the lagging & jerkiness, but there is nothing wrong with the car : It is performing as designed...He told me if the tranny was the problem - they would replace it without question, but that is not IT. The DM said that he Believes that Infiniti Engineers are working a better fix than the last TSB in January. But no promises. I requested that we install Paddle Shifters as some here have mentioned helps with the response. They refuse and also indicated that "they won't work on my car"...But he would look further into it - which he did and called the nest day to say the Infiniti engineers verified that they would NOT be able to be installed for my car ?? I asked then, let me return the car without further cost to me. No way will Infiniti "just a write a check" to the Dealership (this is a lease)... They offered something else as a concession ( I was asked NOT to Blog it). At this point - that is unacceptable to me. On Saturday after a heavy rainstorm and cool down of the Temps, i took my G out for local errand. the hesitation upon stepping on the brakes , then the gas , was horrendous - worse ever. felt like the car stalled - took a full 2 seconds before a response from the throttle was felt and then Take off....very dangerous if I was making lefthand turn against on coming traffic. Happened at least 3X... Also the downshifts while coasting to a stop became suddenly much rougher / jerky..I immediately emailed the Customer rep who took the original email filed complaint. He said he would speak to me today. we'll see...The Service Manager at the dealership who previously met with me and drove my car also had admitted that It Is What It Is...there's nothing wrong with the car.

I still find it hard to "love the 7at".....

Dude, you are really taking this to the max! I guess if I was as unhappy as you are, I would, too. I have only experienced an occasional symptom of what you are describing, but with the reflash it has improved and I've resigned to accepting it for the trade off in fuel economy. For me it is a no issue.

Maybe what we need is a private individual not associated with Infiniti that is capable of reprogramming with a custom reflash, concentrating on less hesitation, with no concerns for fuel economy? I can see where Infiniti is caught between a rock and a hard place with the mandated fuel efficiency requirements.

Thanks for the report.

Almatti, don't drive the latest BMW 135 or 335 w/ the DCT, you'll really hate your 7AT then
Just drove one last weekend (a 2012 135i) and that's how a 7AT should perform, damn the thing just snaps off shifts like a manual and the shift points are perfect. Oh, and it's a rocket too
I'm sure the new generation (coming in 2013 I believe) will have the DCT technology from the GTR. If that's the case I may consider another G, if not I'm aiming at the 135.

Firstly, more power to ya for getting on their case about it. its nice to see some progress, even though its not what you want....at least they are semi-paying attention.

Secondly, its interesting you note the lag showed up after a rain. I notice that the lag is worse in my car when its humid out. Humid = different fuel/air ratio. Makes you wonder if they werent lying about it not being JUST the transmission.

I feel that Ive been able to work around the lag, either Ive gotten lucky and not had any quick turns across traffic, or Ive adjusted my driving habits to where I know how much throttle to give it to make it do what I want (or even sometimes Ill yank on the downshift paddle to make sure I get in a good gear........interesting thing is that sometimes I feel lag there too, but only when in D and trying to use the paddles).

I hope you get what you want, and maybe even as a side effect, Nissan/Infiniti gets off their butts and comes up with some fix(es)

if you can deal with the lack of space a 135 is heaven to drive. I should add, live with the ugly dashboard as well.

The factory rep said that they had many complaints from consumers but that they were working on a software fix for it and thats why they needed my help to get some readings off my car.

FYI: I did go to my dealer before filing a complaint 3 times for the same issues. I have only had my car less then 2 months and i have asked the Consumers Affairs Division rep that i wanted to be taken out of the car and put into another car and i was declined.

At this point I have contacted a lawyer friend of mine that deals with consumer law and he said that he would look over the paperwork to see if I have a lemon law case.

I will keep you all posted, And if i do have a case and any of you want to make this a class action suit please feel free to let me know. But lets just wait till I meet with the attorney first before sending me e-mails.

I hope to be able to resolve this issue soon, none of us should have to deal with these issues on a NEW car.

Update:
As of today and after months of dealing with all the issues I have formally hired an attorney! this attorney specializes in lemon law and other consumer protection related claims. He also has been voted as one of Southern California Super Lawyers 2011

Here is his info: feel free to give him a call

At this time and VERY important: If you have the same issues with your transmission and have seen a 3rd party mechanic and he has verified that there is a problem! PLEASE send me the info!

Thanks guys I will keep you updated. whats happening is wrong and we should not have to put up with it!

Good luck in getting 'justice'. I have had dealings in the past with Hyundai, and know
how frustrating 'fighting the bureaucracy' can be. I have only been driving my 2011
for a little over a week and honestly haven't had these issues (yet?).

Having legal representation will definitely help with getting Infiniti to get motivated.

Hope this all works out for you.

Thanks to all of for your supportive comments. The threat of going to an attorney prompted an immediate response the day of the drive with the DM: "there is a cost to you if you go to an attorney"... I know that. I don't what to have to do that. I'm going t lose anyway: There's nothing wrong with my car...proclaimed again today at the Dealership. The tech drove it (without me) and said there's nothing wrong. So I made sure the complaint was entered in the record, took my copy of the service order, and I will continue to do battle with Consumer Affairs. Today, the car was "better"...not as hesitant as I reported during the weekend.

I really don't have the time to keep doing this. But that is what they count on. You will just go away.

I wish I bought my 07 G35X.
