Had the update, seems a little better now. Flare is still there sometimes and now occasionally it downshifts a little early. The downshift is kind jerky and it is only at a low speed. Doesnt feel rough just a little sudden.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but has anyone requested whatever update they have on the newest Q50s and Q60s? It's the same tranny and TCU, they should be able to do it and it might run better.

Additionally, does anyone know of anyone that can just flat-out reflash the TCU with a better logic?

Did you do this yourself, or have some place do it? My '09 only has 70K miles but is almost 10 years old. Am I reading that right that you flushed and refilled it 3 times? That's a lot of fluid, and it's not cheap.

Got a quick question if someone can help. I recently bought a 2013 G37 w/60K miles. I've noticed when shifting, there's a bit of hesitation with how I accelerate. Compared to if I accelerate a little faster, it shifts more smoothly.

Is there a way to have the car re-learn my driving method? I know with different cars you can unplug the battery which causes the car to reset some things, so wondering if there's anything like that for this car.

Yes, you flush the system 3x to run all the old fluid out of the lines. It's about $300 but that's cheaper than a new transmission @ 100k miles....

Google search : G37 Idle re-learn procedure. It's a bit of a b1tch to do, might have to make some slight variations (count to 8 Mississippi vs. 10), but that will basically re-set everything throttle related.

Other than that, clean your throttle bodies and MAF and swap out your differential fluids and transfer case fluids. The 7AT has always had a hitch in its shift. You have to shift about 500 RPMs ahead of time. The only other solution is a tune to increase line pressure.

Any damage caused be doing the re-learn? Is there anyway it can go wrong?

Yes I did this myself. I used the link in the DIY section on draining and refilling the transmission, and I made my own fluid pump based on a garden sprayer. This is also in the DIY section of the forum. I bought a 1/4" hose barb off of Ebay that threads into the transmission fill plug, so it was very easy to do. I used 3 gallons of ATF to do it, I think total cost including fluid and the pump was around $120. I noticed an immediate improvement. I used Valvoline Max Life ATF that is Nissan Matic-S compatible, it's like $18/gallon at walmart.

Na, hardest part is getting it to actually take. Might have to play with your cadences but the engine isn't going to explode in the process.

so it is normal to feel the upshifts? I can really feel the upshifts when I'm going slow. Does not feel like a violent jerk or even make a noise but I can feel the car upshift ever since I got the update. It seems like the car wants to hold the gear more now and shifts more aggresivly. This is in d by the way. Kind of worried that my trans is starting to go, downshifts are smooth now, but I can feel the upshifts now.

It's always been an aggressive transmission. The car is notorious for rough shifting until 5-6 & 6-7 - the overdrive gears; Probably how they get the 7AT to run the 1/4 at the same pace as the 6MT. Mine does the same thing and has been since 30k miles.

Unless you're hearing grinding or RPMS are going up while speed is decreasing, your transmission is probably fine.

yeah no flare, just aggressive upshifts. Kind of like a very very slight delay before the shift but nothing the average driver would notice lol. I am always looking for problems so you can only imagine how crazy this trans makes me.. Thanks for the reply.

do you notice that car seems to holds gears longer or cruise at higher rpms? Ever since update I have noticed that half the time I am cruising to around 30mph, somtimes the rpms just sit at around 1800k - 2000k and doesnt upshift. I think I am in 4th or 5th. I could be wrong about the gear. I think the car cruises at higher rpms now but still somtimes will drive like it use to. Doesnt bother me at all just want to make sure everything is okay. My throttle bodies need to be cleaned so that may have an effect. Somtimes though the car will upshift to a higher gear in this senerio. No loss of power and if I gas it over 2k rpms it upshifts fine. Is this normal? Could it be something with how the transmission adapts? Somtimes the car will upshift to a high gear, anf,my rpms will be low in this senerio. Seems to act like this when I drive hard. Thanks

I just bought a 2010 S vert with 38,550 miles on it all driven by a very, very conservative lady I know. I had the same question so I called the local Infinity dealer and spoke with the head of their service dept. He said that if I'm willing to be a bit patient the tranny will start to learn my driving habits and style and start to reprogram itself accordingly over time, but If I'm not willing to do it that way, then I should just disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute+ and then reconnect and that would start the process with a clean slate and thus the changes would come significantly more rapidly. I think I prefer the faster learning curve...

I've read through quite a bit of this thread but don't recall seeing this addressed. I've only driven my new G all of once when I originally test drove it. I noticed that the when I downshifted manually with the paddle when slowing down that the car would kinda lurch forward each time when it rev matched. That seemed really weird to me to feel the car do that. Is that normal? I'm used to how a MT feels on a braking downshift....
