G_Spot_37 sent me a PM about some sort of re-tuning done to his 2013 M. After 8K miles he was beginning to feel some lag, not as bad on his former G, but he was feeling it. His Dealer said they Re-Tuned the Tranny (?) and GSpot says he noticed the difference immediately. Did he get the ITB12-027 Reflash, I don't know. GSpot?? Do you know yet.

Over the course of the last 2 months I have driven to test cars to replace my G _ Audi A-6 3.0T , A-5 with 2.0T, Acura TL SH-AWD, E350 4 matic, BMW 535i X , even a Lincoln MKZ AWD w/3.7V-6, and Ford Fusion with a 2.0 EcoBoost engine. The 2013 Audi is best overall, supercharged 3.0 V-6 engine WOW, 8 speed Auto Trannie, WOW. But too much $$$$$. I drove a 2011 A-6 3.0T, almost pulled the trigger as a CPO, but it did not handle as well as the M, it rode too hard for my liking, and IMO none of these cars have the Interior of the M especially with the Deluxe Touring Interior (WOW).

The waiver Pull Ahead program really made the final decision. I'll probably do the deal this week. One thing that has really puzzled me : I don't see very many Ms on the road. Lots of Audis, MBs, BMWs, even Acura TLs, but very few Ms in the NY Metro area?? Why?
It may be a moot point, and as you pointed out, the cost can get dangerously high. But the A6 with the 3.0T is just a fantastic car. We have that same motor (albeit, slightly de-tuned) in our new Q5, and it's just a joy to drive. That, and the far superior 8AT.

Infiniti is going to need to do a hell of a lot more to get my money, next time around. They seem to be languishing (I don't count the new sheet metal as a real change), especially when their primary competition (the Germans) are continuing to evolve their cars.

I hope that Infiniti really pushes the envelope (i.e. direct injection and forced induction) with the engine and transmission, when they finally do address those in the future G, er, Q50.

I feel that the current VQ37 is a fine engine, albeit a little slow revving. (I wouldn't mind direct injection or forced induction though). Once Infiniti gets with the times and installs a twin clutch tranny, it should change the whole driving experience. I had an EVO X, and the twin clutch was amazing. In super-sport mode, the shifts were lightning fast. Unlike the current 7AT, where you pull the upshift paddle, watch the gear indicator on the dash change to the next gear, and then wwwwwaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiitttttt, and finally - gear change!

No argument. The engine is solid. But it's just amazingly dated, now. There's likely no way around them moving towards a smaller, FI plant. I just hope they really put their heart into it.
That must have been a great time in your EVO. Did you get rid of that car? I bet you miss it. I still regret selling my '05 STi. But I didn't drive it enough in the waning years, and the resale was way too good to pass up.

FWIW, I had a 2013 M37x loaner for 3 days and it felt laggy like the 2010 G's 7AT. Although it wasn't as bad, I think that was a factor of it being so new. The loaner only had about 400 miles on it. Also, just to give you my 2 cents regarding the 2011 A6 3.0T, did you drive the sport package model with the 19s? We have the 2011 A6 3.0T non sport with 18s and it rode fine. I agree, the sport package with 19s was a little rough, but I think both version handles exceptionally well, especially with quattro. The steering on the Audi is precise.

Hi everyone. 2010x sedan here, and I just verified with the local infiniti dealership via VIN# that I do NOT have the latest ITB(12-027). I asked about having it done, and the service advisor told me that many people who have it done regret it afterward, despite the 'fixes' it was designed for. She said it may 'sound rougher' and no other real improvements other than shift lag are evident (ie, mpg, etc). I am now hesitating having it done. Has there been anyone here who has done the reflash and regretted it? I care about acceleration in my G, so the lag in the power band would be my greatest desire...

I am bringing it in to the dealer in 1 week for them to replace a reverse light housing; I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. I have read most of this thread and still can't make up my mind. Thanks.

No regrets in the reflash. Although it does not fix everything, it is an improvement. It still has some lag, but is less. The jerky shifts went away. I don't notice it being any louder either.

I am having this problem and think it has to do with ignorance and old school mechanics that don't understand what a computer is. I expect more from a premium car line dealer. Bunch a monkeys with a wrench.

Be sure to take it to the service manager, they should be up on the TSBs, especially ones that have been out for over a year.

I have talked to the service manager. I sent the TSB's in pdf form to the service director via email. I know my car needs this update. In the TSB it says that rev matching goes away in normal drive mine still rev matches and shifts like it has a drunk monkey in charge. I am going to go to another dealer. One that may know what a computer is.

"drunk monkey in charge"...that's almost a selling point. ;-)
I know it sounds stupid, but see if you can simply spin their computer around, and look at the screen with them. That way, if your VIN is, indeed, listed in the TSB, then you can both see it together. That way, you leave the service person little room to screw that part of the process up.
But, obviously, going to a different dealership is likely the first move.

I wasn't there. I don't think they even hooked it up to the computer. They were so busy and really not happy that I made them put tires on my car and correct all the issues I found with the car. It was a CPO car and it was like they didn't inspect it at all. It had T rated tires on it and one was leaking. There were also a bunch of other CPO issues. And yes I like the drunk monkey sometimes but would love to be able to shut him off and turn him on as the update would seem to provide. Also I think fuel mileage will improve in normal drive mode with this upgrade. It's really sporty and jerky in normal mode not good when you have passengers.

Can someone please explain to me!?

Since I have gotten my update to ITB10-075, and every time I take it to dealership to get ITB12-027, the dealerships are telling me that I HAVE THE LASTEST update!
How can I have the latest update when a new update (ITB12-027) is out?
Can someone please explain to me how I can get the newest to date update?!
It's kinda driving me nuts that the I can't update to the newest one because of the previous update. AND I'm sure I'm not the first and only one with this issue so any thoughts and resolution would be great.

Thanks in advance!

These TSBs are based on part numbers of the ECU and TCM (though I'm not sure if this is for the actual hardware or for the firmware) - it does not apply to all model years - only specific part numbers within covered model years. -027 isn't necessarily "better" or newer than -075. Also, part numbers can only be determined by hooking up some sort of Nissan diagnostic software. (The TSBs have the details.)
