G37 7speed transmission reprogram
I have had the dealer check the transmission on my 2011 G25 about 10 times now to try and resolve all of the various issues, and I think they finally got it right this time. I was expecting the same answer as always, but the service rep said they were able to figure out what the problem was, that the control valve assembly needed to be replaced. Picked my car up yesterday, and so far so good. The transmission finally seems to be working correctly, smooth and responsive shifts in slow city traffic, no rev spikes between shifts, no sudden downshifting without any reason, etc...
Of course it's only been one day, but this neutered G37 was a blast to drive today, and I'm hoping they got it fixed this time!!!

There is no wiki on the first page with frequently asked questions so I apologize if this has already been asked. Is this covered by the warranty? I have about 3,000 miles left for my warranty and if I can simply go in and ask for this I want to do it. Is there a way to check the car before I go into see if it's already been done? I bought it used a little over a month ago.
edit: my car is a 2010 G37x so is this even applicable to my car
also, what all can I request under warranty since it's almost up? What are some common problems to look for?
edit 2: The dealer said they need at least an hour to test drive the car to make sure I need the reprogram. I can't simply ask for the program update? That seems weird.

I had me 2009 g37x 7at at the dealer yesterday. Back in June they applied itb012-27c. I've lived with the reduced throttle response and lag ever since. I was told that 27d was not new software. Just a revised TSB that included more model years and conditions eligible for the flash(27c). So, no change for me still a lagger......
I received the update from my dealer and the car feels a ton better. He had to look it up and I had the number waiting for him. Initially, the service guy said that I got the last one but he found the newer one.
I am assuming you went to the 027d version programming. What version of the TSB did you have before this latest update?
Is there a way for a person to check which program he has? The dealer claims they gave me the update when I just went in for my first, complimentary oil change. But as I know, they don't always provide what is promised.
Try a different dealer or service advisor. I went to my dealer and the service manager gave me a five minute preaching on the adaptive nature of the tranny. Talked to another advisor a month later and all I had to do was mention transmission software update and he told me bring it in and a loaner would be available.
ITB12-027d Applied After ITB12-027
I originally had the ITP10-075a, then a year later had ITB12-027 applied. I experienced what so many others have is that immediately after each were applied the transmission's performance was vastly improved, but later the transmission performance reverted back to its original issues (lag, hesitation, etc.).
Two questions (which may have already been asked on this thread, but I don't see answers):
1) Has anyone else gone from ITB12-027 to ITB12-027d? If so, how long (miles) has it been you had ITB12-027d applied and does this version finally resolve the issues (longer than the other versions where the improvement was temporary)?
2) Does anyone have a definitive answer (not speculation) on whether the different version were technically different or simply expanded the scope of models/years/VINs covered? I can speculate they were technically different since these it would seem Infiniti has been guessing/tying different software parameters and the original versions where parameters which were only specific to specific models/years/VINs.
Thanks

Just going to chime in here... I had the 027 update done to my '11 when it came out several months ago. Improvement was huge, and it has not "gone back to old ways" at all. I experienced daily problems with it before, and now it never screws up. This is still NOT a highly refined nor super responsive transmission like the 8 speed in the BMW... However the 7AT with the 027 update now "works" as it should IMO. There's no throttle/shift response issues anymore. Downshift times are maybe a tenth of a second. Plus it has a "badass" kind of character to it (like it or not), and it copes very well with manual shifting (no clunks or harshness), and it consistently shifts when I expect it to. I'm happy enough with it, and I am very difficult to please. People around me know this too well lol. GET the update - you will not regret it. Sure it could be more perfect, but I take the positives and the negatives. Meaning - a BMW may have been a better package in some ways, but a worse package in others (there are ALWAYS sacrifices!), and cost a whole lot more to own and keep running. I can not sincerely complain about the 7AT now. I used to complain about it daily.

Correction: Mine has 027 (no letter apparently). I got it literally a couple days after it first came out on infiniti's TSB site. My understanding is that the letters were added/changed as more VINs were covered. I have a service coming up soon and I will inquire if there's anything new available, but honestly I would not want them to change it from the way it is now.

I might call my dealer and have them check the car, I wonder if there is something else going on (mpg seems to be suffering, even more than the normal drop in mpg when switching to winter formulation fuel)
Chris11LE: What symptoms does it have?
The 1-2 second hesitation which I experienced every day before, is gone and has stayed gone.
The harsh thud/clunk and occasional surging forward in manual mode which it would do sometimes, is gone and has never come back.
The unexpected "revs" when braking in normal "D" mode which it did frequently before it has never done since.
So mine has been great from day one of the 027 update and ever since then.
Maybe you should do a reset, perhaps yours learned some bad behaviors...no idea what to suggest. Note: I have NEVER done a reset or code erase or anything like that since I got it updated several months ago. I do not want to mess with a good thing. I drive mine anywhere from aggressively to spiritedly pretty much always. But I do drive very mellow sometimes too. Mine has never learned anything bad from my varied driving, and I am very 'bitchy' about ATs when they don't do what I expect.
I'm thrilled the car is right... I hated it when I was on the other side of the conversation, back in 2011 when I was complaining and others were claiming "no problem". I think if more of us could get together and drive each other's cars, we could get to the bottom of these apparent mysteries and help each other out.
