G37 7speed transmission reprogram
2 months, only 400 miles
That makes me wonder if it has something to do with the car sitting most of the time (since its not my primary vehicle)
Threw it through some turns this morning, what I remember when I got it back after the flash was that I could be halfway through a turn and then give it more throttle and Id see the stability light on the dash and the car would accelerate very quickly.
Doing the same thing now it almost feels like the transmission is slipping on purpose.....doesnt downshift, it gains speed and RPMs but not as quickly and crisply as it did right after the flash.

Someone in another thread said after they had the second SB re-flash, their car was more responsive and they no longer experience "the lag" when they hit the petal. That's exactly what I am experiencing with my car (2011 G37 Vert) but the dealer claimed that my car was already updated. Someone else mentioned checking the Vin # in the SB and see if my car is covered. Haven't done it yet but regardless, I do experience the problems outlined in the SB.
I had my 09 g37x done yesterday. I've only had it about a month, but I also got to drive a loaner 2012 g37x for almost a week. When I took delivery of my 09, I noticed that the downshifts in between 40 to 20 mph were kind of harsh, and that the engine braking when coasting to a stop was a bit harsh too. Brought it in yesterday and they applied the latest TSB, so far so good, I'm not noticing those characteristics any longer.
@GoodGalz:
I think someone said that the update is not yet available for the Vert yet. I'm sure it will be soon. It seems to take them at least a month or two between updates. First the G25s, then the later G37's, then a month later we saw the '09's, and sooner or later they should fix the Vert too.

Done lastest reflash couple months ago, much better, responsive. One quirk when down shifting on hill (with either paddle shifter or DS) get a thud when going to 4th. Appears there is a lag where revs go down to low and then kicks in rough. Was not that way before. Dealer will be checking this out. 2011, G37 S
Just a quick thanks to all those who have been contributing their experiences to this thread. It goes a long way in giving the consumer a little bit of power to excercise over the corporations that feed the mumbo jumbo to the masses (and the masses swallow it all up before thinking for themselves). On to the initial impressions.....
...My build date: 12/10
before the reprogram, I didn't have too much of an issue with some of the symptoms of the 7at, except for the lag. But once I got a 2012 loaner for 3.5 days, I knew my 2011 wasn't right.
-NOW, no lag instant accelaration which means it kicks down w/out "thinking"
-right and left turns that would make the car bog down and hesitate, no longer there. still get the normal AT type of lag, but that's just being an AT
-smoother upshifts/downshifts, feels "lighter" (like the 2012)
-tap of the gas and it's gone! feel every bit of the 269/328 power curve, more torquey (in fact, almost got away from me on a curve last night. still have to get used to the power that was missing before)
-coasts smoothly
....CONS
-no rev matching in D..good and bad, seems to coast in stop and go too much and have to use the breaks more.
-DS seems less aggressive, rev matching seems less aggressive.
-some on this thread have mentioned their cars sounding louder after the reprogram, but I am the opposite. Seems to have quieted mine down a bit.
All in all, I like it. we had to have a tradeoff of the aggression for refinement, but it is a luxury performance sedan, not just an all out sports car. But it is very much capable and fast and I'll take this update as way better than before (now very close to the 2012 AT performance). Not perfect, but damn good....
**we'll see how it feels/changes after 1000 miles or so...

Thanks mikeb2004. That makes sense. I'll just keep my eyes open for a new SB pertaining to the Vert and bug the dealer.

Dealer says no update … 2nd attempt
I have a 2009 G37S with the 075a update applied. I got the dreaded "your car has the latest programming" when I brought it into a dealer here in Houston about a week after 027a was released. Apparently, they hooked it up to the console and the machine said no updates were available for my car.
Since then I got a copy of the service bulletin a member here posted. There is no VIN range on the bulletin just ECM and TCM part numbers. I called the dealer parts department. They gave me an ECM number but said there is no TCM part number for my VIN. I second dealer said the same. Seems strange to me since TCM part numbers for the 2009 G are listed on the bulletin.
I have an appointment with the same dealer on Tuesday. I'm hoping they can find the update this time. I'll be armed with the bulletin and a part number but I'm afraid they say "the console says no updates, nothing we can do."
After 3.5 years of disappointment with the transmission I really want this update!

Dont get your hopes up too much! As the newest updated does help some, the lag is not gone. I would say its is a tad better, but in certain situations, like needing to get out of its own way, there is still a dangerous lag. The new update has not increased my confidence in the car at all.
+1 on the above observations. After 3 weeks with 027a update the lag was reduced a little on my 09 awd and now it don't pull as hard. The engine revs higher for a given gear, the shifting is smoother but it feels like the power is not making to the wheel vs before the acceleration was exponential but with the dreaded lag. That said, choose carefully which eve you gonna live with. For me, just like with the 75a update, I wish I never done it. But with all the positive review, I couldn't resist. Sorry for being a Debby downer but that's my honest opinion.
I wanted add to this thread with some details on my 2009 XS in hopes that if we continue to discuss these issues that a recall or fix will be issued. I've had every TCM update since I bought it about 18 months ago. I'm not sure of the version number but the most recent update was done about 2 months ago now. Anyway, my car has been back and forth to the dealer this summer quite a bit for various symptoms such as throttle response lag, poor low RPM performance, erratic acceleration, poor fuel range, odd rev spikes when upshifting, etc. As of right now they have replaced my torque converter with an experimental unit. Apparently I'm the only G in the country to receive this part so far. It was installed by a visiting engineer from Nissan/Infiniti something the company is considering as replacement part for our existing torque converter. Anyway that not only failed to clear up the issue but seemed to make it worse. My dealer has the car now and I'm driving a 2012 37 journey 2wd with about 3500 miles on the clock. The accurate throttle response and strong, smooth acceleration of this loaner car prove without a doubt that mine has something seriously wrong with mine. My hope at this point is that they just replace the entire transmission or buy the car back. Nissan's policy is not to open transmissions on a customer vehicle for troubleshooting, they just replace them. I know this from experience on my 2004 Titan.
On a side note, they are also trying to figure out why my car has been so prone to vibration. Since I've owned the car I have had no less than 5 sets of tires on it. Thankfully I have the replacement warranty from discount tire. Free replacements every time I make 3 visits for vibration. Initially everything stays nice and smooth. Then after about 2500 miles I start to get a gentle, high frequency vibration through the chassis. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if I have a bad wheel bearing or something.

Hey guys I have a 2009 G37 7AT I bought 3 months ago. Recently when I come to a stop and try to accelerate, the transmission seems to hesitate rpm rises to about 2200, jerks then takes off. It almost seems like its slipping in the lower gears, but once it gets maybe about 3rd it seems fine. Is there anyway to check the transmission fluid to make sure its not low, also is there any way to check if the transmission reprogramming was done or to what version. Please advise I don’t want to take it to dealer unless for reprogram. If need reprogram does the dealer do it for free or charge?<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message -->
