Oil change

Anyone else have their oil changed after 1k miles? The car is new. Shouldn't it be 3,750 miles for the first oil change or should I just get it done??

Thanks

You'll hear a lot of different advice. Some say you don't have to to change your oil until 7500 miles. Some say 3750, depending on your driving conditions. Personally, I changed mine at 750 miles because when I bought my G37 I figures the oil is already about 1-1.5 years old and oil changes are recommended at least every 6 months. Plus all the metal particles that are in the oil because of the break-in period are present.

So, really it's up to you. Mine = 750, 3750, 7500, etc...

Mine = 500, 1500, 3000, 6000, 10K, 15K, 20K, etc.

If I had it do over again, I'd work one in at 50 miles too.

PS My UOA at 3K miles looked much better than any G37 UOA I had seen that was taken under 5K miles

We're at 1,900 and I plan to do the first change at 3,750. Build date was 7/10, so I don't feel the oil is overly aged yet. But, as previously stated, you'll get many opinions. As long as you are within the warranty recommendation periods you will be fine.

Yeah, I've read the manual and with the coupe I followed the 3750 miles rule. I'll stop past a dealer tomorrow and see what they say..
Thanks guys

I am sure you would be safe just following the instruction in the manual. Plus it saves a bit of money too.

The manual covers this explicitly -- it says there's no need to do the first oil change early. For me, it's hard to believe that doing a few extra early oil changes is going to have any significant impact on my engine's lifespan.

I got mine changed at 3,750... got tired of looking at the reminder on the screen. Besides... you have like 2 free oil changes.

mine is a 2011 G37 and got 1900 miles on it. I got an appointment this coming Friday to do an oil change (Free one though). I might do one again at 4000 miles and another at 7500. after that...it will be every 5000 miles since 60-70% of my driving is highway.
