As others here have said, if you change it often it really doesn't matter if you choose a decent oil. If you want the best oil recommended by Infiniti, use their Ester oil, but it's expensive. If you want a readily available good oil, use a top shelf synthetic. At Midas or Sears they will likely have Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum, maybe a Castrol synthetic but prob won't have Pennzoil Ultra as it's still new.

I bought some PU and my Purolator PL14612 filter and took it to Sewell Infiniti of Dallas and they changed it for about $30-something.

I believe nissan oil is dino oil with ester in it. but they market it as ester oil.

Any higher end oil will have ester in it.

Guys do some searching on class of oils. You'll begin to figure out that Mobil1 sux for our cars.
and this Ester oil stuff is an option for guys....

Back in the days Mobil1 was a full synthetic oil, but then they went cheap and marketed their oil as full syn. but they had changed their oil to a lower class. Which got them a sued by Castrol for false advertisement.. more to the story but that's just a break down.

where can you find penzoil ultra? pep boys, o'reilly, autozone, and walmart only have up to penzoil platinum.

i want to use the ultra since i read so many good things about it but i can't seem to find it anywhere. Since i can't find it, i buy Mobil 1 5w30 since its $25 for a 5qt jug...that and a K&N filter and i pay 15 bucks to get it changed at a local mechanic.

Please chime in if you know where i can find penzoil ultra.

Penzoil Ultra has no ester compunds in the formulation. However, Penzoil Plat and Ultra both show good Blackstone results, much better than Mobil 1. I would just use Penzoil Platinum, change it every 5k or so and I would imagine your engine will be fine. Good high grade detergent gas helps a lot too.I like Shell for no particular reason other than people I know in the industry say its got great cleaning additives. For that matter, so does PP or PU.

You can either perseverate like an pathological OCD nutcase over which oil to use, which a looooot of enthusiasts do to no good end, or you can go by oil analysis from Blackstone labs, which is probably the most logical and 'scientific' method to determine what oil direction you should go in, or you you can just go buy oil based on advertising malarky from the high-end producers like Motul or Royal Purple or Amsoil, etc, or by what some dude you don't know from adam suggested on a forum.

People worry way too much about oil.

If you're searching by name, use another "n" - Pennzoil.

Go to the www.pennzoil.com website, click on Find Pennzoil Products and that may help. I get it at WalMart in Dallas TX.

It was down to $25 last week when I bought my latest jug. 50 cents more than Mobil1, and I think only like $2 more than Platinum.

When you buy the oil yourself and bring it to a Nissan dealership, what are you charged?

Same question for taking it to Sears.

I just hit 3700 miles on my 2010 G37 convertible and need to get 'er done.

I took some Penz Ultra and a Purolator PL14612 to Sewell Infiniti of Dallas and they charge me $32 plus tax to change it. They also filled my BlackStone Labs bottle for me (for analysis) and did it well (no spills, bottle was full, was caught mid-stream, so they said).

Wal-Mart sells the oil too but I'm not sure I trust them so well...
