Which is what everyone complains about... low-end tq...

Flashed the car - definitely felt different, loved the new throttle response. No instant-on, but much improved. Car feels like it pulls stonger as well. Haven't had time to do a 1/4 run yet...raining all weekend.....

Well then, that should speed things along! lol

Itd be interesting so see if there are more gains with aftermarket parts.

Interesting response from Hypertech about their dyno testing with typical bolt-ons, figured there would need to be some adjustments made to the tune especially with intakes.

As a semi professional tuner, I would agree with this statement.

That's odd, b/c they told Amplified Motorsport that they're making custom tune's for just such bolt-ons.

Something tells me they're giving you the run-around as they don't want every guy bugging them about it...

hmmm...i do see gains on the low end especially an increase in torque. i was hoping for a more consistent gain across the band like technosquare's reflash:

Technosquare's Nissan 370Z/ Infiniti G37 performance ECU Reflash Released! > 370z.com > 370z.com - Magazine

...of course it's $550...with dyno tuning it's more like $700 with results posted above. so I guess $400 for a 'plug and play' isn't too bad.

Plus you can actually re-sell it if you don't want it anymore, don't think you can sell your re-flash...

I just got back from my 1/4 mile - could only get up to the 1/8 before shutting it down - one pass, new ECM and a Hypertech tune - 0-60 was 5.21, more than a .10 of a second faster than my previous stock tune. 60' was 2.38@30.1, 330 was 5.99@63.5, and 1/8 mile was 8.95@84.7 mph - these are all personal bests, so I'm digging it.

Previous run pre-tune, 0-60 5.31, 60' was 2.55, 330 was 6.14 @63.5mph, 1/8 mile was 9.09 @83 mph

I was almost 2 mph faster at the 1/8, so , to me, that bodes really well for the 1/4 - I'm predicting a 13.6 @ 102-103.

These are all in D with tracion and AC off, dynolicious flat on the seat facing forward, end jammed into the seat to keep it steady. Weight entry has been agonized over - my weight, my sub, kid's seats, gasoline weight, and so on.

I have to sneak out of the house and go late night to get the 1/4s. Bummer. But I am happy with my tune - eventually I'll do an uprev with hfc and and a tanabe axleback later this summer. And some 255s on the back. My goal is 4.9 with bolt ons, 13.4 - 13.5 1/4 mile.

I think you'd easily break into the 4s/low-mid 13s! Nice numbers!

well, Hypertech sent me a followup email when i asked about the ability of Nissan / Infiniti to be able to tell if the Hypertech had been installed as well as the warranty:

"We are aware of the mechanism that is used by Nissan/Infiniti to detect ECU reflashes. The method Hypertech uses ensures that Nissan scan tools can not detect reflashes done with the Hypertech programmer."

"We don't offer any type of independent warranty protection for your vehicle. We do stand behind our product, and stand behind any claims against our product that would cause your factory warranty to be voided.
All of our tuning is developed on stock vehicles, with no other aftermarket modifications. All of our products are 50-state emission legal, and we test them thoroughly to ensure that there are no issues with our tuning that would cause any damage to the engine or drivetrain on your vehicle.
Thanks for your interest."

i'm both pleasantly surprsied anda bit disappointed. they claim nothing can be found by nissan scanning the car, yet don't guarantee that nothing can be found by nissan, nor will they cover anything on the car if the Hypertech is the source of a denial of warranty claim by Nissan ...

they just have to cover themselves...

they can't guarantee it just because the ONE time that something goes wrong and Nissan finds it they are totally screwed. It sounds like they are guaranteeing it w/o being too specific though which is still good

I'm hoping so, too. When Hypertech gets around to releasing some tunes for bolt-ons, that will probably coincide with me getting them! I am hoping for 5.0s/ 4.9s & a 13.4 or 13.5 with HFCs & full Tannabe catback (preferably the one they are currently developing for the coupe) & some wider rubber on the back - I'm looking for about 15-20 more ft lbs of torque / hp to get me there....
