TSB VVEL actuator fixed or not fixed?

I'm just trying to get a general idea of who had the TSB done for their VVEL actuator where they used the ester based oil for ticking and knocking?

For those that have had it done, was it still gone after you had your second oil change? I had the TSB done at around 17k miles (24k currently) which they flashed and updated the ECU along with changing my oil to ester based. It seems that did the trick for the ticking / knocking, but as soon as I switched to synthetic blend the following oil change, the knocking came back.

I do have the Cobb AP and when I uninstalled the unit I did not save my stock configs (because I was told Cobb uses the most up to date rom for our cars).

I'm trying to figure out if the fix came from the ECU flash or the ester based oil?

Anyone still having issues with the knocking after driving for extended periods of time?

I change my oil every 3,750 miles. At 3750, 7500 and 10250 miles it was changed to conventional 5W-30. Starting at 15,000 and every 3,750 miles thereafter, I changed to 5W-30 semi-synthetic. I am at 24K miles now.

I had the VVEL TSB done at about 8K miles (I can't remember the exact mileage), pretty much about 3-4 weeks after the TSB was released. The knocking went away and has not come back. I have never used the ester oil. (The ester oil change came in the first revision to the TSB, which came out after I had the TSB done.)

Had the TSB performed at about 15K miles and since then haven't gotten it back. Changed to 5/30 Eneos at about 20K miles and now have 38K miles. Just changed to Motul 8100. No issues so far.

Motul seems more of a popular choice in the states, which do you prefer?

I just had the TSB done a few months ago (ester + reflash). Haven't changed the oil yet so I'll let you know.

I have only used Motul 8100 for literally 2 days now. hahaha. I've heard lots of good things about both the 8100 and the 300V, but went with the 8100 simply because I don't hit the track much and was told the 8100 was perfect for occasional spirited driving

How long does the TSB take to apply? I have the last available time slot next week for an oil change at the dealership and figure I'll get this out of the way as well.

If you're going ot Riverside it should only take about 15 minutes bro. My car was the first car they performed the TSB on and they had to DL the software into their database for the first time to do it on my car. I waited 6 hours.

You're welcome
