Getting annoyed with the 7AT "Flare" when shifting....

Not much else..other than I noticed it a few times today. Worst part...it wasn't just after the starting the car and driving for a min or two. Its hot and muggy here (not sure if that matters) but I noticed it a few times while just driving around...30 mins late!

I noticed that it sometimes does it after I leave the drive through in the morning..the car is running for a full 20 mins..then i get a coffee (maybe 2-3 mins of idling) and then I pull out back onto a 50mph main road. Sometimes its does the flare thing a bit as i get back up to speed.

It all lies in the damn variable locking torque converter...i'm convinced of it.

thx for ur hlp 4 sure. LOL....guess your keyboard is missing a bunch of keys.

To the others, should we keep pushing Infiniti for a fix? Service advisors? I feel like a cranky old man and a pain by complaining all the time. I guess I should man up and mention it in a month when I go in for my 7,500 oil change.

2 cool 2 b 4 goten...hehehe.

The torque converter "unlocks" as its shifting and relocks as it engages the next gear. The tach will jump up a few hundred rpm's as its shifting.

It seems to happen after the car is warm and sits for an hour or so..then hop in it and start driving and between 3-4 or 4-5 (i never really pay attention to which shift), it will jump. Its almost as if the tranny is slipping, but its not, its the torque coverter unlocking for a second.

I'm going to try to film it this weekend.

are you talking about it rev matching? on down shifts? Or is it a harsh down shift from 4-3? if the latter is the case here is the TSB.

I've had the TSB done for the downshifts, its much better now.

The link to the thread talks about the UPSHIFTING problem. It did it in the two different G37 loaners I had too...so...its a mostly across the board type of thing. Also, others here have complained. That thread is i linked was getting pretty full of complaints.

This sounds like the lexus ES350 and camry v6 transmission flare.

turns out the cause was more complex. i don't even know if they fixed it yet
