This is my first time owning a automatic car with an LSD. Does anyone what is the recommended oil change interval?

 

i changed mine out around 50k miles on my last g with no problems. its pretty easy to do if you get the car jacked up or on a lift.

 

Since Viscous lsd is a sealed unit non-serviceable, so you can stick to whatever the owners manual says, its basically the same a s open diff.

I change my diff oil every 2 years/24k miles on open diff/ VLSD cars, and every 10k miles on Helitical and Clutch type LSD cars.

If you track i suggest changing the oil before and after any event as it just a smart thing to do to dislodge any metal in the differential from driving to the limit.

 

Are you saying, on a Sport G37 with viscous lsd, we should use "regular" gear oil, not the limited slip differential gear oil with the lsd friction modifier additive?

 

I think all hypoid gear oil should be okay, the fsm i have says: Differential gear oil 3 pt 2-1/2 pt 1.4 API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80 W-90 *5

Which means regular api GL-5 gear oil like mobile 1 or valvoline should work.

LSD gear oil i think you are referring too is for clutch LSD, like KAAZ's while you could use that as well since its API GL-5 rated, i'd think it'd be a waste of money as the additive package is designed for even clutch based LSD wear.

I'd just use what the Factory service manual states and not deviate from it. 80w-90 is cheap like 3$ a bottle.
