I have read a lot and see different responses.

First, I have a 13 G37x 7AT without paddle shifters.

If I put my gear selector in DS mode (instead of D mode), do I have to manually push the gear selector up (+) to shift up when accelerating and down (-) to shift down or does it still act the same when I drive in D mode? I am scared to test it out. I drive in DS mode sometimes but I manually push the gear selector up (assuming it wont shift for me) and let the vehicle down shift automatically in DS mode when I brake.

This has been probably asked before but I want to make sure I am reading correctly.

Thanks in advance!

When you put it into DS mode and don't move it up or down it will still shift up and down for you like it would in D, just with more aggressive programming.

Ok, I was not sure. Thank you!!! No experience with it except when I manually shifted up. Do you drive in DS? Do you enjoy it?

I also just thought, once you slide the shift **** to the left for DS, it has to say DS on the gauge cluster for DS to work, right? Otherwise, if you slide the shift **** to the left and you shift up to 1 at a stop, it goes to manual mode and not DS, correct?

Thanks

Once you go into manual mode it will stay like that until you set it back to regular D. I always drive in manual mode it's soooo fun. plus them downshifts

DS is sporty auto shifting - there is no "DS manual mode" - in Manual mode you shift as sporty or non-sporty as you want.

you can cancel Manual mode if in regular "D" sooner by holding in the right paddle until the display changes back to "D"

from the owners manual:

When you pull the paddle shifter while in
the D (Drive) position, the transmission will
shift to the upper or lower range tempora-
rily. The transmission will automatically
return to the D (Drive) position after a short
period of time. If you want to return to the
D (Drive) position manually, pull and hold
the paddle shifter for about 1.5 seconds."

Some don't have the paddles, so manual shifting is performed in the DS gate on the console shifter. So true the manual mode is different, but without the paddles, has to be operated in the DS gate. So either or, in the DS gate, manual shift or let it do its own shifts at a more aggresive feel compared to the D position.

yeah, I don't have paddles. I did manual shift, it is fun but I think I like DS mode now that I know how it works. It does good for sill being automatic in DS. Thank you guys!
