G37S Chirping
G37S Chirping
Does anyone have a chirping noise coming from their wheel area when the car is moving? I'm posting it in this area instead of the wheel/tire section because I think it is coming from the driveshafts.
Basically, the car makes a loud chirping sound like an alarm chirp when I'm coasting/accelerating, in gear/out of gear, wheel turning/straight ahead. I noticed it when I had my windows down and it would let out a chirp every so often. I saw people walking on the street turn around, so I knew I wasn't just hearing things.
I did take it to the dealer a few weeks ago, but it is still making noise. It took them three days and they said it is like the G35 problem that has a loud 'click' if there was not enough lubrication on the driveshafts. Well, it still makes the noise. Maybe less often, but it's still there. I don't mind taking it back since they gave me a '07 G35S sedan as a loaner, but I want to have it fixed...

I do. I just posted this question in the general section. I didn't see that you had already posted the question.
I am taking mine in this week for it's first oil change so I am going to have the dealer look at it.
Good to know that I am not the only one. I will let you know what they say after they look at it.

WOW, me too! I thought i was going crazy. I posted as well somewhere else... some thread where the OP asked G35 ppl who had gone to the G37, how the rattles and pops and noises were and such. Never got any feedback on my post, so assumed it was me.
But yea, i hear that! Its almost like a faint horn honk.... right?
When i stop and start again, or turn the wheel to make a 90 degree turn.
I hear it the most when i am driving inbetween two brick buildings... cuz then it echos!

Thanks!! I forgot all about that. I love Monty Python!!!
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread....
My car is in the shop for the "Ping" and they think its the drive line, similar to a problem in previous gen coupes.
More info to come soon... I hope....

Yes, I have a machine that goes 'ping' too. It sounds like a bolt or several bolts allowing movement of the parts that they are holding together. It is a "driveline bolts not torqued down enough" problem, like my 2k4 Z had. Took three trips to the dealer to get all the bolts torqued enough. Since mine is on all 4 corners, I believe that maybe the assembly specifications for torque were wrong, or the impact/torque wrench was set too low. Also, I wonder if it is the pre-loading of the abs braking; the manual warns of sounds coming from this system, and assures the reader that it is completely normal. I am going to give mine some time. It could be a ball joint not settled yet, or any number of other things that will "wear in".

I just got my car back from the dealership and so far I havent heard any noises yet. We'll give it a couple days and see. They told me they took out the axles and lubbed the outside. Like the inside were lubbed and they didnt lube the outside enough or something. Hopefully this will solve the problem. If they did, than thanx to TUSTIN INFINITI!! YAY!! lol!!
