Stillen Supercharged VQ37 tuning issue solved

About a year ago I installed the Stillen Supercharger kit on my VQ37 Q50. I was tuned on ECUTEK before installation by a Texas based tuner who I don't want to name. I got a retune by that same guy after installing the kit. For about 5 months we went through many revisions trying to fix a high fuel trim issue. The AFR looked to be stoichiometric but the fuel trims were always high. I noticed hard downshifts and also the VVEL would be high at idle sometimes. Sometimes when I would come to a stop the AFR would go from 14.7 down to 12 and back to 14.7 for about 4-5 times before settling at 14.7. The issues were never resolved. This tuner made me believe there was a mechanical issue causing these problems. I highly doubted it was a mechanical issue and believed it was tune related so I researched some good tuners for boosted VQs and found Eugene. Many people spoke highly of him and his attention to detail so I gave it a shot and went with Eugene for a fresh tune and my car has been running great ever since. The fuel trims are always spot on and that weird jerk at downshifts stopped, no more erratic VVEL numbers or AFR issues when coming to a stop. He really does know what he's doing when it comes to ECUTEK and he does his best to explain everything. The old tuner didn't spend anytime explaining things and it was basically a one day process with the old tuner. With Eugene he takes his time and used data from multiple weeks to dial it in. I feel a lot more confident that I've went with the right tuner. I would highly recommend him to anyone that wants a good clean tune with their vehicle. He can be found at vq37tt.com and redwoodcoastperformance.com

Thanks for sharing your experience with the com@AnthonyK96 Eugene/@bythabay is well respected around here so its good to see that he could help you out of a jam.

I noticed that in one of the links you provided that he now has a CARB legal tune available: https://vq37tt.com/products/ecutek-e...ally-aspirated

That's a first, so I need to give him a call.

Yeah it was the best decision I've made. Glad to hear positive input about him.

I also went with Eugene a few years ago for my N/A car, after feeling dissatisfied with another tuner, unable to get the service I was hoping for. I have had ZERO regrets with that decision. Eugene is a professional and a genius.
