Also, these oil filter sockets. Do they differ in size depending on the model? or should there be one generic size that fits most/all infiniti vehicles? would I inquire about this at a nissan/infiniti dealership or can I pick one up at any auto parts store? where did you get yours? Thanks

Doesn't the filter on the vg37 attach horizontally?

Yes, that would be correct
I just use my hand to loosen the filters FWIW, if you need a wrench you've over tightened it
But I use those grippy mechanics gloves so that helps since I'm an old fart.

Good to know. Maybe I will just hold off on getting the oil filter wrench for now.

My cheapy latex gloves don't have a good grip. I use a socket to get it off, same to snug it up slightly.

no, you reach under and just feel the right side of the oil pan to locate it.

there are different sized ones, and "adjustable" ones. i accumulated various sizes over the years for different cars, and happened to have one that worked. all local auto parts chain stores have them, probably Walmart, too.

yes, my bad - just did the 1st oil changes on my car and my wife's car within two days of each other and mixed them up. i needed the socket extension for her car with the vertical filter.

No clue. I think it's the same socket I was using on my motorcycle(s). Just take the new filter with you to walmart or pepboys and match it up.
