Oil Change 2008 G37

I have a 2008 G37 and want to change the oil myself. Is it ok if I pull the car up on ramps so the front of the car is elevated, or does the car need to be on a lift and level in order for the oil to drain properly. Thanks

I would imagine it would be fine if it was on ramps. Might take a little longer for the oils to drain though....maybe

Yes, it is fine to have the car up on ramps, it does not need to be level. You just have to make sure your car is level when you top off the last of the new oil so you get an accurate gauge of when it is full on the dipstick. I always use ramps to change oil, have never had a problem. In fact, just did all 4 cars yesterday.

Last time I changed the oil I put the car on 4 drive on ramps. I jacked up the front, lowered onto ramps, then repeated the same on the rear.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wonder why you didn't just drive up onto the ramps for the front then jack the rears off the ground? Or just leave it with the front end on the ramps to drain the oil? Placement of the drain plug makes it IMO best to have the front elevated. Filter placement on the other hand makes it a real PITA to pre fill the tensy tiny itsy bitsy oil filter.

^^Driving up ramps with a MT is a good way to cause premature clutch wear. Easier to just jack it up.

Sounds good to me Jsolo.
I never even thought about that....lol
I guess I've been doing it for so many years it's just second nature now. I have to admit the first time with the goofy clutch in the G it was a bit different than normal with the ol half ton , but like the saying says " Damn the torpedo's...full speed ahead".
Cheers

Wow, how much clutch are you burning to get up the ramps? If you're getting the clutch stink when you drive up the ramps, it means you're burning the clutch way too much...

I've been using Rhino ramps for years (FWD/RWD) all sticks. Never a problem.

I have no clutch burn issues with drive on ramps. I jack the car up (front K member or rear diff), place ramp under wheels.. Done. Repeat for opposite end of car.
