I have the 5902 and it does offer a proximity sensor but it doesn't come with the alarm. I had to add it separately.

Can i install the proximity alarm without having to get the viper? Ive heard of some ppl who have gotten the viper and then later found out that their dealership stopped servicing them because of the viper being a non oem aftermarket.

Im not sure if it can be installed on the factory setup but I know it doesn't void the warranty. I have my car serviced at the dealer religiously with no problems and I have viper stickers posted all over the car. The only way an aftermarket product can void a warranty is if that product caused the malfunction. So if someone does a bad install of an aftermarket alarm and your ecu blows then you can guarantee your warranty will not cover that. Furthermore it would only void the warranty on the items that were affected by the install. I called Infiniti Corporate office to verify this and was told "Though we dont recommend the installation of aftermarket products, Installing an aftermarket product does NOT automatically void your vehicle warranty". I asked because I was concerned about my warranty being voided as well.

Im not really sure. I paid almost a grand for alarm and install but thats because I got the Smart Start when it first came out and only one authorized Viper dealer was willing to install on my car because the car was so new and not many installers were familiar with it.
