Battery Disconnect causing windows to malfuntion...

I've read at least one thread that I know was a similar issue to mine, but the suggestions for it were if you needed to reset the 1/4" drop the window does as you open and close the door.

My issue is that after I installed my grounding kit on the car (disconnected the negative terminal connection) my car windows roll down on both passenger and driver if I turn the car off and open the door (driver's side goes down if I open the that door, passenger side goes down if I open that door, not both at the same time).

I'm sure there are plenty of people that have disconnected their car battery now and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this before. I assume I'll be taking the car in for some warranty window resetting tomorrow...but just wanted some opinions from these forums.

And please...do not tell me to go in and do the reset...not only is that not my issue, but I've already tried that approach.

Thanks.

Yea it happens when you disconnect the battery, windows get screwed. All I did is roll both sides all the way down and then all the way up and held it for about 5 secs... done.

It sounds like you are describing what everyone's windows do once the battery has been disconnected. Maybe I'm not understanding what's different that you're experiencing.

When you say you've already tried the window reset, exactly what did you do? Try this. Start your car. Hold both window buttons down until they go all the way down. Continue to hold the buttons continuously for 15 more seconds after they are all the way down. Now hold both buttons up until they roll all the way up. Continue to hold for about 15 seconds. If that isn't working, then please describe again exactly what your windows are doing.

LOL at the thread. Sorry but I had to since this is old news and seems to always be brought up again and again. I think we need a sticky in this section of all the "fix its" for the car for quick reference such as the ECU reset, window reset, etc.

Yah, call me retarded. I guess I didn't hold the button down long enough last night when I tried it. So I emailed an appointment time ready to take the car to Sewell and got home from the airshow and watching the Cowboys suck @$$ and decided...why not give it another try.

I'm glad that I did because it worked this time and my windows seem to be back to normal.

And like I said in the original post...I did search the forums...I did read the post that explains a similar situation...like I said I must have not have held it down long enough last night...I'll blame it on it being 1AM when I did it and I was just really exhausted from a long day of riding my motorcycle.

Thanks for the responses though.

its an easy fix...manually roll the window down (not using the auto feature)...hold it for 5 sec after the window is completely down. Then do the same thing but roll the window and hold for 5 sec after the window is completely up...it will not program if you accidently use the auto feature during the process.
