I just got a new G37 and I want to keep it clean, but sadly I don't have the time to really maintain it myself (I work 60 hours a week and am a full-time student..and am dating..my life sucks sometimes :-p).

So, I'd like to take it to a local detailer and have it taken care of. So, I have some basic questions:

1. Is there a general interval for how often I should expect to need certain services done?

2. How do I find a good car wash?

3. Does anyone have recommendations in Atlanta? Yelp suggested Cactus Car Wash - Georgia and South Carolina Locations !

If I go there, what service level should I get?

Looks like a nice car wash.

There are those who are particular and never bring their cars to a car wash. Having said that, if you have to bring it to a car wash. I would stay away from the chemicals. It's my opinion unless you apply the chemicals and rub or polish them off, they have no effect.

In the winter I would get the under body flush though to get the salt off. (Although you are in Atlanta, don't know if they put salt on the ground).

 

I wouldn't drive thru that car wash with those green noodle looking brushes, doggie.
1 hr Less time "dating" (dimes, I know!) and just wash ur own car

 

I can clean my car in 15 minutes using ONR, a microfiber mit and microfiber towel. Looks damn good afterwards, too.

 

Depends if your the kind of person that wants the finish of their vehicle to be nearly flawless without any imperfections at all then you will have to go to a better detail place / person or do it yourself.

If all you want is the car to "look" clean and dont care much about small scratches and swirls then that place looks like it should be ok. Most car owners dont know the difference between a detail and a car wash.

Money and time is also a factor.

 

How would I find a better detail place? Any tips?

Could I really do a better job myself in 15 minutes every couple of weeks? That I will make time for...

 

Well if you limited in time, then your only choice right now is a quick car wash type place.

Down the road if you find you have more time or money you can then correct the minor blemishes.

To find a quality detailer just ask friends for referrals or call around and ask questions and check their work. The good ones will be happy to take the time.

Get some Optimum No Rinse (ONR) and wash it yourself without a hose. It really only takes a few minutes.
